Googling pics

Unfortunately there's so many fakes on here using fake photos, normally from porn sites, that it is sometimes worth checking. If it looks to good to be true, it normally is. All it is, is a reverse picture search via Google |

"Why would someone do such thing as Goole someone pictures ? Wouldn't this be considered invasion of privacy?"
Sadly not. If your photographs are in the public domain (as they are on here for example), there’s no law to stop anyone from searching for them online.
If you’re concerned about your privacy, it’s always a good idea to ensure that no publicly verifiable images exist anywhere online. Which is easier said than done these days with the proliferation of social media and the eagerness for some people to ‘over share’ personal information and data. |

Morgan Fairchild
Sunny day
And a lot more.
Reverse search a picture of you that's openly visible on the internet and you and you'll see what I mean |

Reverse Google search should we be worried as we don't show face pics and keep other details private.
Never thought about a reverse search even though I don't know how to when it comes to fake profiles. |

If you’ve not got anything online that could be used to identify you, then the only real benefit in doing a search, would be to see if anybody has pinched your photos and uploaded them to another site. |

Well if i wanted my pictures in the public domain i would put them on Google but because is not the case same as been here in this site , is my privacy and nobody else business.
The sadly is just that they are to sad and they should feel ashamed of themselves for doing that .

We've been messaged or winked by so many 'couples' or 'single girls' that are way out of our league and then a reverse Google search finds that they are actually reasonably famous porn stars, it's incredible. We find it sad that people bother to try to create fake accounts like this. |

I think you’re misunderstanding what “google my pics” means.
Your photos are on your profile. “Someone” can save those photos and create a new account, on fab or another site and pretend those photos are of them. This bit has zero to do with google.
Google has a reverse image search built in to chrome that allows you to search online for similar images. It’s not perfect but it’s a good start.
Why would you want to do this on fab?
Two reasons.
1. You may want to search your own photos to see if anyone had stolen them to setup another account.
2. Potential meets may want to check you yourself have not stolen your images from the web and are therefore a fake.
Googling images does not mean someone is “putting your images on google” (not a direct quote, just expressing). Google scrapes the whole internet continually so your images are already processed by google basically as soon as you’ve uploaded them (unless you turn off the feature in fab settings - but that won’t stop less scrupulous search engines!)
Hope this helps. It’s not a bad thing for any user of fab to reverse image search. In fact it’s actually a good thing as it s out fakes. |

Thank you for your explanation yes it helps to understand better about this theme. That's why to me to verify someone nothing better than chat face to face on camera or see the reviews about the profile.

"If you upload the picture to Google aren’t you putting it in the public domain by default? "
I’m glad you asked that as it’s a very good question!
The only way to be certain of what Google actually does with your images once you’ve used their services to search for them, is to read through their (length and full of legalise) privacy documents which are unhelpfully dotted around their platform....and even then, you’ve got to take their word for it. |

You don’t actually upload it. It used the address where the photo is. Google looks at the whole internet continually. It doesn’t just search when someone asks it too. It basically has a database of the whole internet to make search fast.
If you google something, it checks its own database, it doesn’t go out and search a website as it did that before... |

The only downside I can think of when doing it that way, is that the location (on Fab) where the image (or its thumbnails) are stored (perhaps in a database table), may not be searchable by Google’s bots. In those cases, Google may indicate a negative search result, whereas in actuality it is unable to search the location.
Of course, nobody will be able to corroborate whether that is indeed the case, as we don’t have any visibility into the internals of Google’s search infrastructure. |

Although they are on the web, it does not mean the copyright of the images is given up. People still own the images and they should not be reproduced (excel though they are). |

Yes, article 19.2 of this site’s T&C’s does say that you’re not allowed to scrape any data or other IP (intellectual property) from the site, but as far as I understand it (and I may well be wrong) I don’t think there’s any (legal) way to declare that you’re the copyright owner and that you forbid your content being used elsewhere. |

That section finishes with "..without our specific prior written consent", which suggests the site owners assume ownership of content. |

Yeah, and I think it depends on the definition of ‘scrape’ too. Anyway, it’s all a mine field to me, things like this are never as clear cut as you’d expect them to be ![](/icons/s/confused.gif) |

Not if the person is sending them to you only .
They aren’t expecting you to share with any other website.

It’s not 100% foolproof to ‘out’ the fakes though.
I was messaged once accusing me of being fake because they’d been so clever with reverse image searching.
My photos are (and always have been) my own, but I accept the risk that someone might screenshot something and use it elsewhere. |

There and to the left a bit |
A couple of things to remember about Google Reverse Image, Tineye and other image search software:
- If it doesn't get a hit it does not mean that the pic isn't out there somewhere - there is no way the reverse search software could search the whole web and get behind firewalls, paywalls etc and check every single layer of individual sites in the time it takes to run a search - reality is at best it skims the top layer of most sites. To illustrate this, if it searched everything each and every pic on your profile would return a match...to the pic you were searching - but it doesn't.
- If you do get a hit it doesn't necessarily mean the pic is borrowed - some people genuinely post their pics on multiple sites.
So you need to add a little common sense and logic to any use of such tools |

I was really referring to content which the member has posted on their profiles.
Since anyone can become a member and see images on profiles those images are in the 'public domain'. |

I agree common sense is needed and a lot of pics that are taken won't show up.
But a lot of the time if you are suspicious that pics aren't someone's especially on a new profile that has the most amazing pics they quite are taken off the net. There is a reoccurring profile that is often in the forums who does this. She/he takes them from sites in the US normally that don't show up on reverse image but do on others.
A fair few suit pics show up as well as taken off the net.
I have no interest in talking to anyone who uses pictures that are not their own. I make the effort of putting my own up so won't interact with anyone who takes others and use them as their own.
While yes there are some who have mutiple different sites where they post pics they will always be open tho about it I find. Sadly the majority who do it are doing it to get their kicks from leading people on or to get photos of others. And in my mind anyhow are best avoided and blocked.

"I generally use reverse image search if i’m suspicious about someone’s photos/ it clearly isn’t them.
I don’t want to waste time talking to people who have gathered a few photos from google "
This is what we do. Usually with the profiles that are too good to be true. Or the new ones that pop up in your small town and have porn-quality pics
We use Google image search and Tineye on mobile. Open the image, hold a finger on it and a menu appears. Go to 'search with google' and it'll bring up any matches. For Tineye, you need to download the image then upload it to Tineye. They don't save the images so you won't be adding anything.
As you need to be a member of Fab to view profile pics, fab pics don't appear on either search. If they did, a search would just bring you right back to the photo you're searching for. |

Fake pics on profiles are as common as fake couples profiles. It doesn’t mean that much at the end of the day . Your first Social meet Will tell you all you need to know. Fakes won’t turn up . If you’ve been on here fir a bit you’ll get to know the regular fantasists and wankers.. |
