For me, the blanket term “bisexual” is problematic. The way most people use it assumes that sexual relationships are the “real” ones, and that sex and romance come as a package. My feelings, and my observations of life suggest this is too simplistic. Some non-sexual relationships are as important to me as some sexual ones, regardless of gender. If you’re not sexual with someone, where’s the line between “friends” and “romance”? I’m not sure. I can get sexual with someone both with and without friendship (to a point), and with and without romance. I prefer to think of them all as distinct relationships, each with their own flavour.
