Not too sure what the issue is in keeping an uncut dick clean. All it takes is to pull back the foreskin and wash well with water and soap. I won't state the obvious that this should be done on a daily basis as a minimum. I think people's bad experiences must have been with men who were generally unhygienic. |

Circumcision can have a medical benefit (it's recommended in areas with high rates of HIV, for example, to help reduce transmission) and there is no evidence it dulls sensitivity (in some it does, in some it increases it, but it seems in most people it does neither). It's definitely not used to control men's sex lives.
All this information is freely available, and a quick Google will stop you from saying silly things like "cutting off the clitoris and labia, then sewing up a vagina - yeh, that's exactly the same as removing the foreskin"  |

The refutations to your claims of cleanliness/disease-spreading are also myriad and easy to find often, once again, from medical professionals.
You appear to be confusing intent with action.
The intent of the mutilator does not make the act of mutilating worse.
Why do women have the right to bodily autonomy but men do not?
A baby is not going to contract HIV. That's not something a child needs to worry about. And if it is then they have bigger problems than having a foreskin.
We are also not in the third world here or America where it happens regularly and NOT as part of direct medical intervention.
Any decent parent can clean/teach their child to clean an intact penis.
There is no justification for mutilating a baby of either sex. If an adult man decides he would prefer to be circumcised then that is his right.
Parents should NOT have the right to order that their child be butchered for aesthetics or to make cleaning them "easier" (it's not).

The summary of the article is this:

I believe circumcision on healthy children is bad. However, there are organisations out there (like the WHO and the UN) that actually promote it in some parts of the world, based on evidence. So the jury isn't "out", as you'd have it believed.
Regardless, comparing it to FGM is ignorant - in circumcision they remove the foreskin, in FGM they cut off the clitoris/labia and sew up the vagina.
Making the argument that they are equivalent makes it seem like FGM isn't really that bad (since most people know someone with a circumcised penis, and it's obvious that circumcised men continue to have healthy and active sex lives).
Spreading that kind of ignorance is harmful to women vulnerable to FGM, and you should stop it. |

OK so on that basis and taking America where its done routinely, why has HIV not been all but eradicated? Over half of New infections were noted to be there.
Also on desensitisation, if I cut my nails short for a period of time, my finger tip is very sensitive, that goes away as its exposed more and tying back into your hiv reduction theory, one explanation offers that it may be because the skin becomes tougher so there are fewer microcuts. Can't have it both ways.
I feel sympathy for men who've had this done as a child because they had no say in it, don't know what was lost in terms of nerve endings/sensation. If its required purely on medical grounds then OK, any other grounds is mutilation for the sake of it which is fine, provided its your choice and with your consent.

FGM has no medical benefit and is hugely debilitating. Its sole purpose is to control women's sex lives, and they achieve this with severe mutilation.

It's definitely not used to control men's sex lives.

I have no preference.

Interesting debate here... I was cut at aged 7 for medical reasons ie foreskin too tight and got a couple of infections (unsure why as obviously I was 7). It was quite traumatic at the time as my penis looked like Jesus with his crown of thorns directly after the operation! Most medical professionals disagree with you there and in fact did with me when I suggested getting one as an adult.
In fact evidence suggests that an uncut man who cleans properly will have the same amount as someone who cleans a cut one.

Lets be honest here the vast majority of males who are cut is for religious reasons,or they are from America who believe for some reason its better to cut. I can understand someone who has a tight foreskin that doesn't fully roll back having a harder time with cleanliness, but this notion of cut penises defacto being cleaner than uncut is rubbish; if you're finding a lot of uncut guys with dirty willies then that's on your selection process and your playmate's personal hygiene.
