Lisa, nice chair Have we? Sorry I have a poor memory. Who's chair? Mine or yours haha! Xx"
We did chat, potentially about going to a club in Leeds for moral support. The nice chair comment was aimed at the lady who'd commented earlier. My chair is battered and bruised but lives to fight on |

Covid definitely got in the way, but had a few decent chair based adventures, so not all bad, though a couple may have contributed to the battered and bruised thing |

I didn't know the model but knew it was Kuschall from the swirls. I have a Kuschall Champion sitting in a cupboard in case my ancient rgk chair breaks.
I saw the basketball chair! I've never even tried a sport chair as I was totally unsporty before my injury...stayed the same after it too. |

Getting on with one's life after a life-changing injury isn't inspirational at all. We have no choice in the matter. |

I was sporty before my injury, so it was brilliant to learn about wheelchair sports actually. I play wheelchair basketball and do seated stuff at the gym. I joined a road running club and I push 5 or 10k while they run. I started off road adventures during lock down, just pushing places in the countryside where day chairs aren't supposed to go, hence getting stuck in the mud etc. I should get a FrontWheel really, but find brute force often works
I'm also keen to try wheelchair racing and tennis and plan on pushing a half marathon as soon as I'm recovered from my recent surgery and back in training......... I'm still a fatty though |

I have one good leg and one not. My calf muscle seems to be fading away. Maybe the spasms are why my quads don't look so wasted? I don't really get calf spasms anymore. I get quads and big toe/arch of foot and my hip feels like it dislocates often (it doesn't actually dislocate). Weird shit, nerves....... |

I'm fortunate in that my injury isn't SCI, it's peripheral nerves only. My mate who is a below the knee amputee tells me a lot about what he can still feel despite his leg being in an incinerator somewhere. Crazy nerves |

Indeed, I fully understand that. My pelvic nerve issue is just loss of sensation. My loo issues are of another cause and I've just had surgery to fix one bit of it. I hop it lasts. Life's a bitch, eh?! |

I want to chop it off at times, but my amputee friend has reined in that desire sorry probably my bad. My pain on the NHS scale thing is about between 7 an 8 on a daily basis but 10 on a bad day. Not that I really wanna talk about it on here but bowels an bladder romp in as a very close second to pain x
Indeed, I fully understand that. My pelvic nerve issue is just loss of sensation. My loo issues are of another cause and I've just had surgery to fix one bit of it. I hop it lasts. Life's a bitch, eh?! " I actually hate moaning about it because most people wouldn't understand but I've had a life before all this an I know how easy it was an I would have felt exactly the same |

"I'm fortunate in that my injury isn't SCI, it's peripheral nerves only. My mate who is a below the knee amputee tells me a lot about what he can still feel despite his leg being in an incinerator somewhere. Crazy nerves It's true, its pretty mental what still goes on down there when nothing works....apparently. its worse when they tell you that you can't feel anything.....unless its pain haha x
Another massive question that needs answering - why is the pain always worse at night or exactly at times when you don't want it?! It's like there's a little electric shocker/burny thing sat waiting for me to let my guard down It's a true conspiracy put there just to piss us off. Everyone presumes the walking thing is the worst part about it.....its nowhere near as bad as all the other stuff that comes along with it x
My leg is now burning like the firey pits of hell. Probably because I talked about it, the bastard. It was sore before bed, but it's really sore now. Hey, have a moan. Folks moan about far less. Get it off your chest - yes, lots of people don't understand and they never will if they don't know. Yesterday, on a post about working from home, a contributor told me that I could work standing up and that if I just practiced daily, I'd get stronger and would be able to stand for longer. Oh, and I'd lose weight. I had to put the phone down, otherwise I'd be banned right now. |

" I've been told numerous times that if I put the effort in I may be able to walk again...I'm still waiting Haha. I think that if people see you in a wheelchair they automatically assume we are all in the same situation, of course this couldn't be further from the truth. Everyone has their own story to tell, as we well know x |
