With respect, I think "dominatrix" is an old fashioned word for a type of female dominant, which appeals to some subs.
When you say professional I read that as meaning they get paid. Then my understanding is that they are called "pro dommes" or even "fin dommes" are a financial kink.
There is another thread on here for people looking for Mistresses and Masters. |

This quite true , Dominatrix is indeed an old fashioned word or one may say the original term for a female dominant taking part in Sadomasochist activities
However as with most things in modern times words seem to get allocated to certain groups to help distinguish between and identify said groups .
It is not the first time that I have seen or heard “ Dominatrix “ allocated to describe a professional lady whom dominates for money only .
However I or my partner do not agree with this line of thinking we both enjoy the feel and look of the word Dominatrix ( it’s one of those sexy feeling words if that makes sense ) and it is what we use to partially describe our relationship dynamic . ie “ My partner is my Dominatrix “
Over on the other site of course I have discussed this usage several times and have read as much as I can on origins and usage to back my case that Dominatrix is not specifically financially linked . I’m sure the debate , whilst not quite with rage will continue in the future . |

I think it can mean whatever it means to each individual, as long as all parties are fully aware of exactly what they mean, pre playing as I could go horribly wrong
I like the word and find it a huge turn on and for those not fully versed in the world of bdsm I'm sure everyone has a general image of a domintrix. Being mainly dom, but not adverse to switching I'm all to aware of how it goes. |
