I wonder what peoples thoughts are on guys with ponytails?
I happened to see a guy in the Italy - Ireland game tonight and thought it was just about the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen!
Anyone else find them completely ludicrous? |

What a silly thread for a web site dedicated to an "alternative" lifestyle.
We all like and dislike different things but our biggest pet hate is young "men" in the loosest sense of the word who shave and veet themselves as smooth as a babies bottom - is there an irony icon? .
The problem with so many people is that they have a fanatical desire to be with the current trend as opposed to being themselves - that "trend" may be in clothing, hairstyle and body hair (or not). I guess the OP being such a young and dedicated follower of trends has not yet reached that stage of maturity that he can accept all people for what they are, who they are and their choices. After all, unless he is secretly gay - why would men and pony tails concern him in any way?
We just love people who are brave enough to stand up and say - hey this is me - I ain't no follower of fashion, I blaze my own trail - not follow others. There are millions who follow trends, just a few who stand tall and make their own style and statements. |

Seems I am in the minority as I love men with long hair but only if they keep it clean and in good condition.
Mr B has long hair and often ties it back in a low ponytail...I find it sexy not ridiculous.
Will be gutted when he eventually has to cut it off one day!

I'd like to have a meet with a guy with long hair, I'd like to feel it falling silkily over my thighs. I e never had sex with a long haired guy before. But I'd prefer the hair to be down rather than tied back in a pony.
But those Francis Rossi types with the thin wispy hair and a ponytail looks silly. I like a thick and lustrous ponytail anyway.
Also the types with the hair on their head cut short but having a remaining ponytail, no its just silly to me

I've not changed my hair or how I dress since 1979! lol. It does have its advantages though, instead of looking back at old photos and cringing as to the fashion monstrosities that you've fallen into over the years, I look back and think things like "I wish I still had that bastard shirt!" |

"Makes men look dirty and greasy. Ugh. Short hair only for me, sort it out men and start looking masculine!"
I can name quite a few long haired gentlemen who look masculine....sure some people would remember David Ginola, David Seaman amd there's a whole load of heavy metal artists. Why also should it be masculine to have short hair? If thats the case why do so many women these days have short hair?
I have long hair which most of the time is loose but also wear up for a meet. It's who I am and I'm not going to change that. Probably means there's only about 2 people left on the site now that would meeet a long haired, bi-sexual married man but oh well... |

i love long haired guys so long as they have the right look to go with it, i suppose at some point they will have to tie it back like for work etc when they do the band looks better low on a guys head rather than higher, but over all it looks best down

When I was younger, I adored long hair on guys...if it suited them. My Ex's hair was so long he could sit on it, he used to straighten it every day it was lovely, but once he got to 40 he had it cut to just about shoulder length and it still looked great.
...nowadays though, I mostly don't like it. I think he put me off long hair for good! |

now speaking as a man, with short hair incidently, i know younger guys with ponies and ok , whilst not for me it is their choice.
the ones that really get me are older greying men who have them usually accompanied by a earring or two. which i personally think looks ridiculous..

Whether you like long hair or a pony tail on a man or not is your choice, but to suggest or assume that they are or look greasy, dirty, feminine or gay is ridiculous.
I find both long and short haired men, even bald men attractive, but that is me. Mat has long hair (shoulder length) which he ties back for meets, he does not look dirty or greasy and i think he looks very masculine especially as his hair falls on such broad shoulders.
As others have previously stated, it is what you find attractive. Just because you do not find someones look attractive does not make it wrong for others to like it.

It depends if the gent in question looks good with a ponytail or not.
I have seen a gent in full leather biker outfit, very handsome, suntan, and long blonde hair in a ponytail.
And when he removed his biker jacket and reviewed a very toned torso, I just could not take my eyes off him!
That was a few years back in Germany.

Great post!
It always amuses us when people have a downer on something, take beards for example, not that long ago most women wouldn't go anywhere near a guy with one and most guys wouldn't have one for fear of ridicule or standing out.
Now, because certain sports men, film stars and celebrities are sporting them, every other guy has one and the women have no problem with it.
I had shoulder length hair and have always had various sorts of beard.
However, when I started going bald I shaved it off but kept the beard.
Mind you, if I could still have long hair I would, complete with beard and earrings.
I've never been governed by convention, current fashion or other peoples opinions, plus I'm a certain sort of biker who people seem to always associate with hair and beards.
As for it not looking masculine.....I wonder if anyone ever told the Vikings that? R

As for the !eing yourself and not a trend follower, well I certainly agree with that. Iv e always had a quirky sense of dress and I really don't care what others think. Ive gone out and had people snigger, I don't mind that, I've never been one of the crowd.

Depends on the bloke....someone earlier in the thread used Russell Brand as an example of sexy long haired - I wouldn't touch him with the scabby end of a barge-pole, does absolutely nowt for me, but stick Robert Plant in front of me, or that blonde footballer off Strictly (Robbie summat) and I'd just drop onto all fours for either of them....diff'rent strokes eh? I must stress again that this is merely my opinion and I do not intend to offend anyone.
Yet, I still find it very amusing to see a guy with a ponytail! |

Not half as amusing as seeing 20 and 30 something guys desperately veeting body hair to give them smooth, child like bodies again. Man up for gods sake and just be yourselves - be men and stop trying to look like innocent children.
Not trying to offend you, or any other baby smoothies for that matter. lol |

"I could never have imagined so many opinions regarding the subject of male ponytails.
I must stress again that this is merely my opinion and I do not intend to offend anyone.
Yet, I still find it very amusing to see a guy with a ponytail!"
I don't see why you think saying something is just your opinion makes it less offensive. If I said it was my opinion that you were a cunt that wouldn't be any better than me just saying you were a cunt, would it? |

Been waiting for this thread to turn nasty....
Yes some of the comments on here I have found quite offensive but why rise to it.
Do what we do and just shake your ponytails at them. |

Tbh I am not keen on men with long hair.
However, if they do have it, I would sooner it be tied back than them wandering round looking like 'My Little Pony' |

I didn't imply that it would be less offensive; simply that the comment was not intended to offend anyone and just my opinion. If it has done, thats a personal stance but it's rather difficult to go through life without ever offending people.
If you, for example, thought me to be a cunt, then that's simply your opinion but it causes me no offence!
Now, if you wouldn't mind I am going to go and dig out some Status Quo records, put my hair in a pony tail and dance around like Francis Rossi!

"Well there's some pretty cutting messages in here... Fair enough we all like different things but some of this is downright nasty. As someone said earlier, for a website devoted to an alternative lifestyle that's a bit disappointing.
(Yes, male here has long hair)"
Do swingers have to accept and like everything and everyone then?..what makes their opinions different from any other group of people?...
It has been commented on before that swingers dont have to walk around thinking everyone and everything is beautiful..and should criticise anything. |

Hmm . Certain topics and behaviours must be criticised homophobia and racism for starters . However on the whole an open minded accepting live and let live persona is surly always desirable over a person who has petty gripes |

Oh come on. There is a difference between not liking something and making nasty comments about whatever it is you don't like. |

The point being . No issues with anyone having their preferences tastes and desires but we are members of a community here where lifestyle choice arevaried and sometimes extreme . The win vanilla world loves to point a finger .lets take goth for example and suggest such people are odd abnormal twiSted or knobs . These labels will always be foolish prejudice generalizations which only ever reflect poorly on the person expressing them . Are we going to start a thread with how silly person I'm a put looks or one who wears leather or those who enjoy being spanked the list could be endless and offensive . Many on here expect ridicule from the closed minded masses but have over come repression to express who they feel they are and the person and clothing that makes them happy
id suggest looking inward at ones personality if the first juvenile thought is"looks a twat " of course that's a fine subjective opinion but has no objective ms rational basis .Im sure we all know a number of twats and they all come in differing shapes sexes colours and hair clothing styles .
perhaps we would do better to regard if a person looks happy or sad as opposed to silly or a knob |

"When I was younger, I adored long hair on guys...if it suited them. My Ex's hair was so long he could sit on it, he used to straighten it every day it was lovely, but once he got to 40 he had it cut to just about shoulder length and it still looked great.
"
used to have hair like that myself, could sit on it, didnt use starightners on it though. washed it every day,
In my case i had it cut off when i was about 35, when i realised i had started to go bald, and grey, Hairdresser who did it asked me 3 times if that was what i really wanted to do. |

Completely agree..especially on forums etc when its easy to hide behind a keyboard or get a bit carried away..thats bad behaviour..but saying 'wrong in so many ways' is hardly 'nasty' is it?
I wouldnt dream of saying something like 'your pony tail makes you look like an utter c***'....
We arnt like that honest. |

From leaving university until 12 months ago, I was always in jobs where long hair was seriously frowned on. On starting working for myself, I made a conscious decision that I could now dress how I wanted to and have my hair the way I wanted. It all adds up to me being at a point in my life where I am relaxed, happy and feel in control of my life. The only person who criticizes it to my face is my mum! |
