Have you ever bottled a meet?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Let's try again
We've all heard about it. People letting people down on this site.
Call it nerves or losing your bottle.
So whats your story? Have you ever turned up to a meet and bottled it?
I've been left sitting in a bar for 45 minutes before realising the couple I was meeting wasn't showing.
The excuse they gave me afterwards was laughable, apparently they were sitting in the same bar waiting for me LOL...yeah right |

I'm in agreement there.
Too many time wasters and pic collectors out there.
Had someone book a consultation on three occasions this week, cancelled each at the last minute ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

The first fab meet i arranged the guy did not show. Later messages to say he had lost his nerve. No excuse for bad manners and leaving me standing in the rain looking like a plonker. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
That’s the problem with the site because it’s free and no subscription fee loads of messers and do agree makes it very hard for the genuine single guys to get meets because of timewasters if going to bottle a meet then don’t join a swingers site grrrrrr ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

We waited at a club once for 3hours as the guy strung us along. Left late, stuck in traffic. Trying to park. Still on here and still tried to msg about meeting months later lol |

I've never done it and never had it done to me, but I can imagine it's not very nice to be stood up...a quick message isn't too hard for anyone to send. Even if it's an obviously made up excuse, at least you're not letting someone stand waiting for you |

I once had a pof meet and walked up to coffee shop he was outside I thought no I cant then turned round b 4 he saw me and started walking back but I couldn't leave him standing so thought I stay for one coffee to look not rude omg! He was so arrogant and rude and racist we nearly come to blows in coffee shop ! Couldn't wait to get away x |

That sucks. Really don't understand what could be so difficult for some honesty in people.
Just a simple "sorry can't make it, lost our nerve" goes a long way |

Nope, theres been couple were something genuine has come up, but I'm always immediate and up front as soon as I relise the arranged activity isnt possible. That said if I cant make an arranged meet, then it will have to be something important for me to cancel. I think people forget just because youve arranged a meet your not tied into doing anything you dont want to ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Not stood up, but when I first joined five years ago I was still a bit meek. I was planning on meeting a couple when they came through on holiday. They were coming on a bit too strong so I made an excuse to not meet them a few days beforehand. |

I’ve never not turned up. But I’ve had the situation where I did numerous socials with someone, I was attracted to him and vice versa but there was some issues that I didn’t feel comfortable with so I ended up cancelling and saying he wasn’t for me. Long story but he had a fwb who didn’t appear to know. I also suspected he was attached and lying to me which was true and the circumstances felt odd. So I guess I bottled but for very good reasons |

Never done it, but have had excuses like traffic jam, car wouldn't start, blown tyre.
I've not minded when there's been a genuine reason such as having to work/extended shift and where I've been told with plenty of notice.
Tend to meet (before covid) in places I'd like to go anyway, so I can still have an enjoyable wait if needs be ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Never - although a guy has just this minute bottled it on me. Radio silence and now offline.
I suspect he’ll message me tomorrow with “Soz, there was a family emergency. My mother / sister / daughter / cousin / wife / pet dog went into labour and the car broke down!” |

Since I joined been stood up about 8 times. Once sat for an hour in a hotel bar. I had work the next day and would be up for half 5. When he eventually answered my message he reckons he had a pint in the bar and lay down and fell asleep.
As for bottling it I've often sat in a coffee shop thinking wtf just leave before the arrive. But I always stay, at end of day it's a coffee and a chat.
Worst experience ever and I'll be honest everytime I have a social or meet now I'm waiting for the same thing to happen. Gave a guy a chance as have been told I'm fussy when it comes to guys, agreed to meet the guy , he walks into coffee shop I stood up to shake his hand and say " hi I'm...." , He looked me up and down, than says "oh god no, you're not for me" turned on his heel and left coffee shop. Still stings ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

Na, however there was one I (the male) wish I had bottled out.
Wasn’t off fab, it was one of those where where the little dog was constantly trying to shag my leg as the cat was desperately looking for fresh carpet.
When she said, “let’s get down and dirty”, I replied, “what on the carpet“?

Only time I’ve had a no show she messaged the next day. Said she’d been nicked for drink driving on the way to my place. I thought ‘Yeah. Right.’
Turns out she’d had a ‘couple of glasses’ of wine for Dutch Courage before she headed over.
Confirmed by my mate who happened to be the arresting officer.
She even gave my address as to where she was heading to. She was two streets away : D, hence my pal knew.
Fucking priceless.
Shame though. She was absolutely stunning. |

My car did break down on the way to a social once and I was already running late. He thought I was bullshitting so I gave him my location and we ended up having a social sat in my car waiting for the AA. I decided he wasn’t for me after all that, the not believing me irked me too much |

Yes!
Our very first meet was supposed to be a gangbang at a house, turned up and the area was dodgy to say the least. Music blasting out the windows, very dark inside and sheets for curtains. We rang and said that it isn't going to happen, got blocked by all members, called all sorts (can understand they were pissed) and that was that, think swinging would have ended there and then had we gone through with it. Turned out a few weeks later our first meet was perfect, we made the right call. |

Just to add.
We've never done so since that time. Neither have we ever cancelled. We wanted to meet two guys who are very popular here for quite a while for a threesome but already had a meet arranged. We didn't cancel but they agreed to meet at another time, they actually respected the fact we wouldn't cancel our arrangement for them. |

I gave him directions, and the meet was arranged for 3pm.he messaged to say he was on way and would be half hour.well he didnt show up. I found out later that he had gone to a gay guys house a 4 min walk from mine to get a blow job off him.he had verified the gay man. He had a straight profile so obviously a lie. Once met a couple for a social, we all got along fine , they seemed to be a nice couple, attractive and well turned out, they messaged me a few days later and we chatted on the phone arranging a meet at theirs a few days later, I got ready for the meet drove over to theirs, drove down the road they lived in, nice residential street with well kept manicured front gardens until I got to one !!!
I should of taken the hint then and driven past, the front garden looked like a fly tipping, anyway I gave them the benefit of the doubt and knocked on the door, sounded like battersea dogs home with all the barking, he opened the door and I went inside the smell of dogs made me gag, he offered me a tea (refused) and said take a seat, but the sofa was just a mass of dog hair, she joined us and suggested we go upstairs, at this stage I just bottled it as I felt physically ill, I made my excuses and wiped my feet on the way out, that was my worst fab experience, had a few no shows their loss they don't get a second chance

Nope, I felt like bottling it though, because it was my first meet and was in doubt if they were a genuine couple, and also felt nervous about walking into their hotel as if I was staying there.
But I did man up and walked through that hotel like I owned the place, and had great fun ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Whilst I’m not defending people who never really intend to meet up with others, it’s an interesting filter the number of people who think people who change their mind, shouldn’t. Or they are in some way disingenuous.
I will change my mind if I so wish and it could be for many different reasons, I’ve either lost interest or just can’t be arsed, but it’s my body and I will do with it as I please. But I will always communicate that I won’t be coming. I may not choose to tell you why.
If someone was to arrange to meet me and told me that they were not now coming. That’s cool. It is their absolute right. I’d only feel miffed if no one told me. But id probably not loose sleep.

If things truly come up (kids family) you have to cancel and that feels terrible not just for the guy lady and couple but it’s genuine and you feel guilty but that’s the fact about swinging when you have children you feel just as bad as the people you let down x |

Once a guy we arranged something with in a message a couple hours before we were due to meet sent us a message mentioning sex with family members we just blocked him didn't feel he deserved an explanation |

But what is a genuine reason??? I feel that “just don’t feel like I want to” is an entirely genuine reason and I’m not going to explain myself (nor do I expect anyone to meet me that’s changed their own mind).
I do not owe anyone anything other than a little note to say I can’t (Or won’t) make it.

I once went to an afternoon 'Greedy Girl' event at a house in a (then) nearby town...
....walked through the open front door into the lounge to find a 'queue' of half-a-dozen or so guys, a couple of whom looked distinctly unsavoury...
....immediately started having doubts about hanging around, and then the 'Greedy Girl' herself came down the stairs...
....she wasn't exactly a sexy sight, bare legs showing below a dirty blue towelling dressing gown, pink fluffy mule slippers on her feet, and a fag hanging out of her mouth...
....she was followed by a scruffy-looking bloke with a stupid grin on his face, and when she growled "who's next?" I caught the distinct odour of lager breath...
....as she headed back up the stairs with the guy who'd stepped forward, I headed back out the front door... |

have had a guy turn up but not like the sight of the road i lived on and leave
another who had no battery on phone to find my post code but was somehow online
someone who again had no battery to send message to check if it was me waiting in the same pub for him
or others who just did not show so the rules before lockdown were 30 minutes leeway - if no contact within 30 mins of due time no meet |

Had a meet last week after some sporadic chats on a different site. Wasn't sure she was that interested but since she'd agreed to meet for a drink and her pic seemed to look nice, I thought why not.
On the way there I kept asking myself why I'm doing this, how awkward this would be etc. But thought, I've agreed so let's see this through.
Turned we hit it off, had the most amazing afternoon and met again that week. Due to meet again. So you never really know! ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

"Yes. I have. And I’ve changed my mind right at the last minute for no other reason than I wanted to. If I change my mind I’m always communicative and honest. Why lie about it?
V x "
It's your absolute right to change your mind and as you said its your body, no one has the right to make you follow through a meet.
However, once you've given your word to meet and someone's put in the time and effort to prepare and be ready to meet you, to pull out at the last minute is disrespectful IMO.
You're perfectly entitled to do it but it isn't something I'd be proud of doing even if I had a good reason. Yet you seem to be proud of pulling out just because you can and felt the need to announce it twice in this thread. You're right but not cool ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |

Arranged a social at a coffee shop which was a 30 min drive away. Left hanging around for about an hour with no message. I returned to my car to discover it had a puncture that it picked up on the way there. The tyre had only been fitted the previous week, so 80 quid to replace it due to a journey I need not have made.

Ive had a few no shows and a few " addresses " that turned out not to exist but by far the oddest was a hotel meet with a couple who Id messaged several times and who were definitely giving all the right signals. I turned up at the hotel at the right time armed with a couple of bottles of wine as requested. Knock on the hotel door and answered by a German or Scandinavian chap who speaks very good English. We had exchanged pics via phone and he certainly looked like the somewhat crappy pic Id received. He sees me standing there with the bottles and sort of stands aside so i can get into the room. His partner is fussing about with her makeup and looks like shes getting ready to go out. Theres a very awkward couple of minutes when I dont know whether to sit, stand, undress or do handstands . Basically the guy is saying next to nothing and his missus is all bar ignoring me. After more near silence and me standing there a bottle in each hand he asks me if the wine is free or if it could be booked to their room. Im understandably a bit confused. It turns out that they knew absolutely nothing about a meet, werent swingers and had a completely different mobile number to the one Id been getting messages from. That number was suddenly out of action. The pic was deffo of them though and the room number was correct. To this day I have absolutely no idea what the hell was going on that night. I was half expecting Jeremy Beadle to jump out a cupboard. Thank Christ they had a sense of humour about it although I have to say the woman looked less than pleased when he explained why I was there. By the way-- I left the wine with them. |

A couple I know had a really bad experience recently. They booked a hotel room to meet a guy. He was sending messages saying running late, stuck in traffic, almost there.
They called him out on it as he was now almost two hours late. He admitted he was sat at home over two hours away and had no intention of turning up.
He disappeared off Fab. Almost put them off for ever. |

People often have themselves to blame when people don't turn up. Yes there are time wasters but in reality if you make a connection with someone develop some sort of relationship, talk to them on the phone then people are far less likley to mess you about but we live in a blame others society these days or so it seems. |

I actually did bottle it once, if you could call it a "meet". I was walking around the Cita centre in Maspalomas and I passing outside a place that looked like a swingers' club but it was suspiciously empty...I went in, sat down, started chatting to the ladies who were managing the establishment...it soon became apparent that I would have guaranteed sex if I paid...so, after paying for my drink as well as the drink of one of those ladies who was chatting me up...I made a swift exit! See, not all of us men are interested in "prostitute service" ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Only once they let me down and was the first meet i had when i joined Fabs and guess what they just live 10minutes away, they msg me not long time ago , of course my answer couldn't be no other than NO.
Since then i had the lucky always crossed with honest people.
Few months ago before lockdown, if they read this thread they know who they are C&M , i went for shooping and i was mad to myself thinking they going to leave think i'm a time waister, once they already arrived to my house. Happily they wait and all went amazingly.
Being honest when comes to meet don't cost nothing , i myself i wouldn't ever let anybody down because i don't want that for myself also .
Is all about trust and honesty if for any reazon is not possible the meet go ahead , before all set out from home a call to cancel is always welcome to everyone i believe, better than let people waiting , and worst put the privacy and identity of people in risk .

Never did the no show thing but definitely "bottled" it.
Got to a single ladys house, very well presented, nicely kept, very accommodating, answered the door in VERY revealing underwear and instantly began stroking Mrs cock at the door.
All going splendidly if a little too quickly. Poured us all a drink to which we were shown to the living room and she sat across him stroking his cock and all this while her 2 kids are watching tv!! What she thought was going to be going on i have no idea but we were back to the car in less than 5 minutes.
An experience that never got off the blocks and one that's definitely best forgotten about! |

Would never bottle it. Started out dogging and clubs years ago so got used to the feelings involved before turning up at strangers houses. It's such a buzz I wouldn't miss it. Should of kept my old profile, loads of veri's, knew plenty of people. Fab is certainly different now but wouldn't change my decision as I was in a relationship and would have been wrong to keep fab profile. J |

I've bottled it a couple of times due to nerves but I've always let the person know ahead of time and given a reason as to why.
I've been stood up or mislead a few times which sucks. If someone wants to cancel then I'm fine with it so long as they tell me and explain why. |

If we arrange to meet we would never disrespect someone by standing them up. They have trusted us enough to open themselves to us and it would be a shitty thing to do. We understand that life sometimes gets in the way. But there is no excuse not to at least message them. |

No if I decide I will neet then I'll meet someone. Some I have regretted meeting especially when they aren't how they came across on here. I have cancelled when I got suss that some one wasn't going to show. He had chatted away then went quiet leading up to it, the day before he hadn't answered messages so I told him I wasn't going to go. |

We always show up and only had to cancel twice over the many years of being on the scene but agree the excuses are very lame indeed and sadly Plymouth has now got a bad rep for time wasters/no shows and just all rather annoying and pointless and when we used to do our "Socials" we got even more let downs which was a real pain as we probaly could have allowed someone to come who would have shown up ?? ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
The same person has stood me up twice & both follows the same pattern. Date arranged, she then goes quiet for days. I message her to see if everything is ok & it's still happening. No reply sent & blocked on the day. She told me she got scared but has done the same thing again in the last couple of weeks. More fool me for believing in her. |

Really annoying. My couples profile arranged a social drink with another couple who are with a 10 mile radius of us. We let them choose the pub, day, time everything. Half hour before going we checked and it was a goer. Got there and spent an hour waiting. Wouldn't mind if they'd had the decency to say an emergency had happened. I had been at work all day, gone home and spent ages getting ready...
Bad manners suck!

Yes.
I think it is OK to cancel AND inform the other party about it, if it is soon enough (for example a day or few hours earlier).
It gives time to the other party to do something else and thus not waste their time as much.
But if someone not showing up without informing, I don't care what is the excuse, I think it is intentional, inconsiderate and a timewaster.
There is no excuse to at least send a text to cancel. |

Yes I have bottled it. Yes I have let people down because I was scared. And I have also let people down for the true reason of something happening to stop me getting there.
I have also had it happen to me, three hours sat in an out of the way car park in a very short skirt and stockings and the police checking on me.
But I still keep trying because those times it all happens are the very best times. |

It takes that long for me to glam up, then I'm definitely committed to a meet, hence I've never bottled one as far as I can remember. I have regretted turning up to a few, though ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Never bottled a play date, but we did bottle our first social.
We were in the bar about an hour before the social started, and when everyone came in there looked to be no other “new” people so we felt we would be intruding.
We drank up and left, but went back next time and joined in. |

I’d have to get a meet first, to even think about bottling it ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Never bottled a meet, but have made excuses and made a quick exit, only once. |

No never bottled a meet ever.
I've been on the receiving end of a double booking though when I knew she wasn't going to turn up as soon as she went quiet. She messaged an hour before we were due to meet to say she couldn't make it. Unbeknownst to her I had already sussed that out and hadn't made the journey. She then posted a veri the next day from someone else and they even named the cafe we were to meet in.
On another occasion I arranged to meet someone who was always complaining about being stood up in the forums.
The day before we were to meet she denied all knowledge of us ever agreeing to meet. |

not bottled as such but remember being very nervous prior to attending my first social. i had messaged to say i was on my way. when i arrived i walked round the block and past the pub entrance three times before plucking up the courage to go in.
ended up having a great evening with some friendly fellow kinksters ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

Never.
Why arrange to meet if you can't go through with it. Generally have a social first that way there is less pressure. |

I nearly bottled a meet the day before, when I realised the person I was talking with was actually a man not a woman. I should point out that they were very very convincing....
I decided to go through with it, met at a bar, had just the one drink, and it ended in the hotel room with some mutual masturbating....
I simply couldn't let them down...
We left on good terms....

Absolutely not , I would never not turn up. But if I genuinely couldn’t make it I would give plenty of notice and try to rearrange |

I like the pre meet butterflies. It’s all part of the build up. I would never not turn up. |

"Let's try again
We've all heard about it. People letting people down on this site.
Call it nerves or losing your bottle.
So whats your story? Have you ever turned up to a meet and bottled it?
I've been left sitting in a bar for 45 minutes before realising the couple I was meeting wasn't showing.
The excuse they gave me afterwards was laughable, apparently they were sitting in the same bar waiting for me LOL...yeah right"
I have never bottled a meet.
And I'm not sure why someone would.
I'm not sure I'd wait 45 minutes though.

Some People get a kick from giving people the run around though. There are some sick people out there, thats for sure. Just grow a pair and say "Sorry not interested" don't leave someone hanging |

We have to cancel on the same person on two separate occasions before we met for the first time
Had valid reasons on both occasions and thankfully the third time was a charm ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I think if you give plenty of time - we’ll as soon as you know that you’ll have to cancel let the other party know
But never have not turned up |

I’ve never bottled out of meeting someone, but I have walked from a meet which wasn’t working for me, politely thanking the couple for their time ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

"Since I joined been stood up about 8 times.
Still stings "
I've had that reaction except got told "oh you're fat and not as pretty in the flesh" then he walked away - embarrassingly a member of staff overheard this and bought over a free slice of cake and told me I had a lucky escape! But it still hurts |

That was disgraceful behaviour. Really sorry to hear you had to go through that experience.
.
I don't understand the mindset of some people! If I've gone to the trouble of making plans, then I'm happily going to go through with them.
For me, there's been something in chat / conversations and their profile that has led to me wanting to meet them.
Yes, you might not connect as such when you meet them to look to take things further in future.
But part of this is the chance to meet new like-minded people and its still fun to chat for a couple of hours over drinks.
As you never know just how you'll connect with someone till you've met them, yes looks and appearance are important but I'm driven by experiences with great people and the possible pleasures this brings everyone.
So I'll not disrespect someone by not turning up when we've arranged something.

No but I've had others not show for meets with me and later say they bottled it or someone freak out and cancel last minute because he decided he'd talked himself up too much. Sometimes people pit too much pressure on themselves and forget we're all human beings on here. |

We'd arranged to meet a couple Swindon way.
The girls had chatted so we all knew what was going on and the hotel was booked.
Then they mentioned that another couple were interested in joining us, did we mind?, they sent their Fab name and we checked them out, no problems .
That night at the hotel we were messaged that the the woman in the original couple was ill and they were not coming and both couples blocked us.
Back then C had her own profile so we checked them out the next morning and both verified each other going on about the great night they had.

I got catfished pretty badly once on here. Began chatting to what I thought was a single lady on a Saturday morning.
By early saturday evening she mentioned she was going out with friends to a nightclub near me and invited me to join. We had a very brief call and she seemed legit although the connection on the phone was bad.
Agreed to meet her outside the club at 11. Good thing I chose outside as I met her "friend" outside and he mentioned about going back to their hotel room to do and meet his friend who I was supposed to meet.
I called the bluff there and then and walked off. My feeling is if you trust your instinct (I didn't that night) you will be right more times than not. |
