I am just watching Law and Order: SVU where the fetishists are shown as sad and dangerous. I remember another episode where swingers where shown to be murderous and gullible (although Mariska Hartingay did have to pose as part of a swinging couple and visit a swingers club, be still my beating heart!).
But in only a few films or TV series has swinging or kink been shown as an enjoyable activity by consenting adults ("The Watch" comes to mind).
Given that kinks that do not cause lasting harm are no longer classified as a mental disorder, and in the real world swinging is not known to be a hot bed of mentally unstable people, why is it taking the rest of the world so long to catch up? |

It's still seen as taboo.
I've mentioned swinging to a couple of trusted friends and had to explain that its not car keys in a bowl and pampus grass in the front garden!
Quite a few groups and media struggle to cope with homosexuality so kinks and swinging blows their tiny closed minds |

Given that grown adults still giggle about naturists I think it will take a long time before swinging and kink become unremarkable.
We've watched a couple of films recently featuring swinging. It always turns out badly for the "evil" person who suggests swinging and the loving, married couple who try it at their suggestion learn a valuable lesson about not enjoying sex with other people. |

Thanks for the contributions.
The best representation of the kink lifestyle I have seen is in a comic called "Sunstone" by Stepen Sejic. Coincidentally the best thing on swinging is a spin off from that series called "Swing" by his wife Linda Sejic collaborating with Matt Hawkins and his wife Jenni Cheung.
Both comics are apparently on the devient art site as well.
