What do you want it to do? You can get very basic phones for as little as £10

Do you need a phone or just a sim. As you can swap them out or get a phone that takes 2 Sims these days!

Thanks for the quick responses. Just need a cheap and nasty phone with a SIM card in it. Ideally one which I can put £20 on (for example), and not top up again until it is all used.

If you got to somewhere like carphone warehouse (got a feeling they might have gone bust?) then you can get really cheap phones for free when you buy £10 airtime.

Plan to get a dual sim phone in future, it saves a lot of hassle.

The cheapest tend to be text and calls only. Each network has its own top up policy, to keep it active

^ this.

I carried 2 phones for years and it's a pain.

I now have a duel SIM phone. The burner number is a Giff Gaff contract at £4.99 a month.

Cheap and easy.

Thank you to everyone for your helpful comments. We have Samsung S7 & S8 which I don't think are dual SIM, will get dual SIM when the phone contract renews. In the meantime will have a look in Asda/Tesco/Carphone Warehouse.

Thanks again. I knew you lot would give some good advice ! xxxx
