A small warning.....
WHO: Gonorrhoea Could Soon Become Untreatable.
The AP (6/7) reports that gonorrhoea "is growing resistant to drugs and could soon become untreatable, the World Health Organization [WHO] said Wednesday."
The Los Angeles Times (6/7, Brown) "Booster Shots" blog reports that the WHO "announced a global action plan to control its spread and effect. The plan will focus on development of new treatments and on monitoring for incorrect use of antimicrobial agents -- a practice that can promote the development of drug resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the microbe that causes the disease."
Reuters (6/7, Kelland) quotes Lusti-Narasimhan as saying, "The organism is what we term a superbug -- it has developed resistance to virtually every class of antibiotics that exists." She added, "If gonococcal infections become untreatable, the health implications are significant." |

"are you kidding me? a swinger gave me oral gonorrhoea!" oral gonorrhoea is how its most comanly spread there are at the moment only 3 treatments and each one can only be used once so if you get gonorrhoea 4 times you are basicly fucked the other problem is the GUM clinic if you both go to the clinick and one of you get's a false possitive they will treat you both for gonorrhoea then retest you both and if nether of you had it in the first place its still 1 down 2 to go and before any one says a word condoms dont stop gonorrhoea due to it being spread by oral unlees of course the women uses a femedom the male a condom and you dont kiss then you MIGHT be safe scary isnt it

I know this is a stupid question but what if say there was a small cut in the mouth but then performed oral sex on an unaffected person, is there still a risk of contracting any STI?

if the person with the cut is clear and the person reciving oral is also clear then there is nothing to catch |

Lots of infections grow resistant to the drugs used to treat them. That's why we have continuing medical research.
The flu virus growa resistant quite regularly which is why we saw a pandemic of swine flu but that has been controlled with a vaccine and this is now incorporated into the flu vaccine.
The flu vaccine changes every year.
Lots of reports of this kind are scaremongering but always useful to keep note of. I am hopeful that with regular scientific testing they will change the content of the antibiotic which will kill the infection.

And uncle upthe. Joking aside, a very serious issue and well done OP for sending this message - just so makes it so much more important to have safe sex. Talking of which - why do so many men have such a massive problem with condoms! If they can't get it up because of using a condom, why are they on here in the first place!!!!!! Why do they think that we should expect that everyone is clean on here - it just amazes me! |

"we met a cpl once and the guy said he couldn't put one on lol so I told him to go away and practise and then come back to us.Funnily he never did lol "
And if the sight of a condom induces sudden limpness, they can always practice with rubber finger cots on their digits until they've got the hang of the unfurling movement required whilst maintaining full tumescence

as a side note, always ask for a mouth swab at your sexual health check up as they are not given automatically, and be completely honest with them about your lifestyle...hepatitis b jabs are also available free if you ask, and FREE CONDOMS!!! |

All this is precisely the reason we dont/wont swing...we are indeed envious though of those who do because it looks like a lot of fun..
Serious question..where does the excitement come from now? when faced with a situation where you have to insist that your prospective partner uses condoms, dental dams, kissing is risky etc etc..in case they are riddled with something?
Having to use (and rightly so) a dental dam to lick a female or (a condom in the case of a male) 'just in case' s/he has an STD...wheres the enjoyment there?..with that in the back of your mind?
I just thank god that most swingers are probably more responsible than any other group...good on ya too.

Indeed and to be honest fella , yeh it does sound really stupid, Im not being funny here but your playing a high risk game, and you havnt got a clue about the possible consequences..You have never heard of Gonorrhoea?, Chlamydia?, Syphilis?, NSU?...this is taught/discussed in school...where have you been??
Do yourself a favour, get off of here for half an hour, and google/Wiki it..it might just save yours, and somebody elses life one day.
You know it makes sense.. |

There are no magic bullets, because of abuse of antibiotics (e.g. overuse where not required, not completing courses of treatment in particular and massive overuse in animal husbandry) resistance is acuired - just natural selection processes.
Bacteria are very complex wee creatures (believe it or not) and also, they are capable of passing genetic information, not only between members of the same species, but also between species, in some respects, the use of the term "species" breaks down a little with some bacteria. This means, where there is a population of bugs in close proximity to others (like in the gut for instance, but any warm orifice or fold might suffice) there is the possibility of plasmid transfer between members of different species. So once one species develops resistance, there is an increased likelihood of that happening in some bacteria that are commonly found in similar environments.
Just because a bacteria can't say hello, don't think that it is unevolved or simple. They've been around a lot longer than multicellular organisms, so they have lots of methods of coping with challenges (like immune systems, antibiotics, etc.)
Just be careful and be aware that no-one wants to shag someone with weeping sores etc. Just think of the consequences before doing anything risky and help yourself and other people ... The best cure is not to put yourself into the position of catching the disease. Rant/proselitising over |

Syphilis is already on the rise, primarily in Bi/Gay men but also in hetrosexual. 11 fold increase over the last decade and treatment (if and when dignosed) very painful antibiotic injections into muscle ... until that's resitant too!
Remember a lot of STI's are symptomless in early stages. |

I'm not playing this down because having save sex is important. But the pharma industry is very keen on keeping people paranoid about their health and keep on buying new and more expensive drugs. 'Normal' people like us don't really grasp what's really going on. Researches are often founded by pharma companies and it's sometimes difficult to know if we all get the full truth. Doctors get special treatments (it's against the law for them to give them presents but they can give them non-monitery gifts like lovely conventions in 5 star hotels, etc to convince them to prescribe their products... I'm not saying that the prescribed drugs are bad, but sometimes there are cheaper or other options which are 'overlooked'. |

Wow, I didn't know it was that bad!
There are 17,000 new cases in the UK each year, so it's too high a number, the biggest groups being young people - either more risky behaviour, more sex, more stupid, I don't know.
I refuse antibiotics, and have for many years, unless absolutely necessary, and assume that most others now do.
The problem for the pharmaceutical industry is that there's little profit (according to them!) in antibiotics, so little development has been done on researching new ones etc, and the development time is slow.
We need global changes in prescribing behaviour, but this is harder if people can just buy drugs and self 'prescribe', and any locally built resistance is easily passed globally.
As another poster said, bacteria are incredibly flexible/'intelligent', in that traits acquired by one type of bacteria can be passed on to a completely different type of bacteria, so resitstance could become the norm very fast. |

Indeed, as does fried food, alcohol, and taking 3 paracetamol when you have a tooth ache instead of 2..
Difference being the user is in control of those risks..there are no outside influences such as a partner (or all their partners over the months) who might be carrying something.. |

For oral, the only treatment is an injection in the butt. But I only had one and it didn't hurt at all. It can do though apparently. Perhaps I am just hard?!
I think not swallowing cum may be the answer. I know many swingers who play expensively and they still suck cock but don't swallow. |

I play orally to completion a lot... Always swallow or taste it... And have never ever caught anything. I'm tested often though...
There are always things that are out there... As always the risks your prepared to take need to be your own.
When at the clinics take time to talk to The staff and they will give you good advice... They never judge and the more honest you are the more they can help...
I play bare from time to time and would never use a condom for oral...( would rather not do it) with sexual health you always are responsible for your own....and only you can decide what risks you are prepared to take.

A woman I used to work with once asked me, as a regular sufferer with tonsillitis, to check her throat as she thought she'd got it.
Her throat was dripping with green pus!!!
I told her that it wasn't tonsillitis, but she should see her GP cos whatever it was it wasn't right!
A few days later she caught up with ma and said she needed to talk and didn't know who else to ask.
She'd gone out on a night out with a gang of women and pulled a bloke while in a club. She then took him round the back of the city hall, while her friends were in the taxi queue, and given him a blow job.
Result? Gonerrhea.
Her next question? How do I tell my husband???
Many of these diseases can be symptomless, particularly in men - or the symptoms pass before doctor shy men go to the GP. At least in the swinging environment no-one takes offence if you ask about their testing history and how often they go to the clinic. |

The treatment for all types of gonorrhra is a rather large injection in the bottom, I can't speak for everyone as we all have different pain thresholds, personally injections are just an unpleasant sting in my opinion.
Chlymdia is often treated at the same time as gonorrhea and that treatment is 4 tablets. Nurses tend to offer this treatment for both gonorrhea and chlymdia if there was a risk, so at the time of testing it is usually offered. People can wait for their results and have the treatment if they have the infection or have the treatment there and then as it won't do any harm if you're not infection, maybe give you diarrhoea or feel a bit sick.
The thing with all bacteria is that they don't stay the same but mutate to form different strains which the previous antibiotic used may not clear up efficiently. That is why we have ongoing medical research.
If people are regularly attending GUM clinics, like they claim to be, they would know this info, the doctors do talk to their patients and explain. |

With regard to swallowing cum...and this i learned at the GUM clinic...our saliva and the acids in our stomach puts paid to many bacterial nasties, and so the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease orally is minimal...just be sure to have a quick check over the cock in front of your eyes and look for any signs sores, weeping etc, just common sense really. However the vagina is a nice warm breeding ground for them, so protecting yourself with a condom is also common sense. |
