As much as I would love to meet, I will be waiting to see what impact releasing lockdown has on infection rates. I’m also concerned that the increased risk in cold temperatures has on infection rates; so the reality is that it’s going to possibly be next year before I think about meeting again |

I won’t meet in the same way as I do during normal times. But I am single and yes I will have casual sex. I live alone and have chosen a known and trusted fwb for my social bubble
We might never find a vaccine so those who say they won’t may be waiting a very long time. Why would this in particular be selfish- because it’s sex? People on here should know better than that
That said, the people on here at the moment looking to meet just anyone and acting like the light during normal times makes my skin crawl |

I certainly won't and as I understand it covid is viral which can mutate like flu. Getting tested for it might be the next option like sti's but will still carry a risk I guess. It's going to be a strange world where more risk assessment will need to be done than ever before.
I can check risk for me but passing it on by being a carrier to others would be a scary thought. |

I'm not preaching or having a go, each to their own.
When you look at all the bareback threads and posts, and the people willing to risk during playing then I'm sure there will be a lot that won't be too bothered about the virus also. There are going to be risks for things in everyday life for the immediate future. |

I'm glad you aren't worried and fingers crossed you don't contract it. I work with people who have and believe me, they haven't all been "high risk" the damage this virus is causing and the after effects are awful. |

Probably not for a while yet. Especially as 78% of people are asymptomatic yet carry and shed the virus so you could be meeting someone who seems fine but get it from them, then pass it on to the vulnerable or have complications yourself.
A lot of young people without underlying medical conditions have also gotten very sick or died and then we don't know the after effects of catching it yet either so no one, regardless of age or health, should be being blasé about this.
Hate to be a party popper. |

We may not ever have a vaccine so I’m curious as to what your plans may be. Maybe in this dystopian future sex will only happen in a monogamous relationship between people who live together. Except that you’ll have to get to the point of moving in without dating normally and having had any physical contact. Or is it just sex that is unacceptable and we’re pathologising it just because it is sex?
The OP asked whether people will meet once restrictions are lifted. By this point people will be making their own assessment of risk |

After reading some of the comments about for and against meeting people , what you have to ask yourself is if it's going to take 12 months+ to get vaccine "it might take 5 years no one knows" are you prepared to wait for a vaccine ? |

Life is too precious to take risks with your own or others. Who wants to be sedated on a ventilator not knowing if you’ll ever wake up? It’s the stuff of nightmares. I’m sure one of these 130+ vaccines which are in process will come up with something. |

They are being very quiet on the long term damage caused to people. We pulled our eldest from school before they closed after reading the Italian report that many of those surviving had long term lung or kidney damage. (They have one kidney).
It’s not the flu & it looks as though if you catch it & survive you might not walk away totally unscathed.

Not sure yet, but the reality of life is it’s not going to go away it’s here to stay along with all the other diseases floating about. Unfortunately the world needs money for it to go round, normality has to resume as I believe someone’s got to pay for all the billions shelled out. |

I don't see that I have any choice?
I am high risk (asthma, diabetes, somewhat overweight - though a lot less than this time last year, liver issues). I also have close family members who are high risk due to various medical conditions. Even if I decided to make the choice to meet - which I am entitled to do as an adult - my choices could potentially kill my brother-in-law, my stepfather, or my brother.
I don't need or want casual sex enough that I'm prepared to live with those consequences. I can live without sex for years if necessary. |

Clubs and house-parties venue are big culprit of super spreader. I don’t see how clubs can enforce social distancing in a confined space. In my eye, Going to clubs is like going to dignitas clinic to end one life. As for me this period of pandemic club and paty is a forbidden place for the time being. |

Yes, I think I will meet, eventually, even before vaccines.
That said, not just anyone who comes along, and, as with meeting pre-covid, will ask questions (and hope for an honest answer), along the lines of how many people are you in direct contact with, etc.
I tend to be cautious in general, and won't be rushing out for sex.
But my thinking is that this may be around for a long time, there are no guarantees in life, and I am not willing to sit at home forever.
I'll also point out here that, as with sex in general, I'd never lie to anyone about my own possible exposure (none, to date). I make my own choices, but wouldn't presume to make that choice for anyone else. |

To be honest yes - I will!
Like many others (I imagine) I’ve done a personal risk assessment and come to the conclusion, as a healthy adult who isn’t obese, athsmatic or diabetic - or a smoker - that I’m unlikely to get seriously ill if I get COVID.
I’ll treat the risk of COVID like the risk of an std - ie I’ll choose prospective partners carefully - and only sleep with people I feel I can trust!
Feel free to disapprove folks - I’m simply being honest! X |

The gradual eased-down of covid by the government is pure nonsense without mandatory enforcement of wearing facial-mask in public. The spike and scale of infection without facial mask is unknown.Infact the truth will be known in a month time. Just look what's going on in American the surge is a mammoth task for the trump administration. I hope same won't happen here.
See what happened in Beaumont beach.Cavalier attitude from sun seeker's. A lot of them will go home to infect their elderly parents with underlined medical condition. This is pure selfishness |

The biggest problem America has is Trump! He’s been Covid’s greatest ally since the start of the pandemic. He’s been fighting- and losing - a political battle whilst the rest of the US has been fighting COVID. From encouraging protests in Democrat states that didn’t re-open early, spreading misinformation about ‘cures’ (who can forget his suggestion to inject ourselves with disinfectant?) to holding support rallies, and his catastrophic response to the BLM protests. Perhaps the most detestable of all are his administration’s attempts to dissolve Obamacare (affordable health insurance for the poor of America) during a world health crisis! There was NO way that cases weren’t going to increase considerably in America.
Perhaps this will be a wake-up call to them - and the rest of the world.
We may not want to - but for now we have to live our lives in a new way - and limit the number of people we come into close contact with. Unless we do that on a national and global level - we’re screwed! |

Even with more freedom from next weekend, there’s still a 1m rule in place making anything more than a social impossible
& as we don’t really do socials unless it’s with people we already know, no we won’t be meeting anyone new anytime soon unfortunately

The answer is no. And to be honest, the sooner the Airport's open, the better. I plan to spend 6 months in Thailand. They have had only 58 deaths, locked down as soon as they got a case and I would feel safer over there. |

I think the best approach is to assess each situation individually. Life will go on. We make assessments and take risks every day. It’s how we mitigate those risks and take our precautions for any given situation that will result in the best chance of avoiding any issues. |

Why don't people look at the ONS figures? Upto last week Covid 19 accounted for only 1.7% of all deaths in the UK. It is now the 8th biggest killer in the UK.
Why are we destroying our countries economy for this? We need to get back to work and back to normal or we are heading for bankruptcy! Not to mention a serious depression, both mental and financial. |

Maybe its just me, but I am in the best place I have been in for a number of years. Work wise I am enjoying working via socially distanced means and am getting more done then I ever did with no-one to distract me. Financially my company has grown during covid and in turn my job security is higher. The figures reflect two things that currently the people at risk aren't getting infected which means the lock down worked. Also we are closer to returning to normality. But to rush out and be stupid is ultimately a dangerous thing. Although I'm not at risk my self I have 4 family members who fall under medium risk and 3 that fall under high risk. For them I will continue to do my part in keeping them safe |

I mean it’s a simple thing of probability for me - are you more likely to catch it going to the shop? Or meeting someone from fab?....

Some people will but then some have no issues with bareback too the risk for self pleasure outweighs the helth of family and close friends.
Personally it will be more like repeat meets with selected friends I know have behaved responsibly during the pandemic. |

One of your friends could work with someone asymptomatic, wouldn't that mean your 'risk for self pleasure' is no higher or lower than anyone else's? |

Absolutely I'll meet, I'm not going to wait around for a vaccine that could take years to be approved and administered to the UK public. My opinion is to be exposed to the virus to build a natural immunity. How many people have said they thought they were getting a cold or the flu in December/January before covid became mainstream news? It's not going away, it will become like the common cold or flu (which takes just as many if not more lives each year than covid). |

I think at some point we have to strike a balance between abject fear of this infection and getting on and living our lives based on the degree of risk. I have just seen a chart which confirms that in the UK we are nearly down to Zero cases. If so at this point we are more likely to be seriously injured or killed in a road accident, or die from some other disease. You will never make life risk free. I have thought form the outset that long before there is a vaccine in use, the Med profession ill have found effective treatments and so many fewer people will die and that is exactly what is happening. |

This is were i stand on this subject. Yes i will meet. Covid isnt going to go away. Its here. For good. No vaxine can work on everybody and its a virious. It will mutate before thats done anyway. But i hope if anyone shows signs then they wont meet. Who would meet someone with a common cold. I wouldnt. I think its called be sensible. |

I know a lot of people in the NHS and with the current gagging restrictions in place, we'll never know just how bad it was or wasn't, one thing I can say is that many NHS workers have said the government did a very good job in creating a huge amount of fear, this is evident now as they are trying to get the education sector going again.
Even the likes of Jeremy Vine and Dr Hilary are having to reassure the public, these people were on TV giving daily 'fear' updates a few months ago.
Sadly this virus will divide lot of people and the people will never get the full disclosure.

"Why don't people look at the ONS figures? Upto last week Covid 19 accounted for only 1.7% of all deaths in the UK. It is now the 8th biggest killer in the UK.
Why are we destroying our countries economy for this? We need to get back to work and back to normal or we are heading for bankruptcy! Not to mention a serious depression, both mental and financial.
————-
How many do you think it might have killed if there hadn’t been a lockdown? Do you not actually take in any news at all?"
Unfortunately, you're the one who obviously isn't taking in the news and looking at the facts and statistics. Don't just listen to the main stream media. Go and do your own research. |

if i feel fit and healthy would i meet , absolutely, if i had a bad cold or the flu would i meet - no , common sense needs to prevail , the more people that get infected the weaker the virus will become , Spanish flu disappeared over a couple of years and it killed millions , we will soon be treating this like a nasty flu , if your reasonably fit and healthy its time to get back to normal life and will be going back to clubs as soon as they open , can't wait |

People have been meeting for a while now there just not advertising it over fear of judgement.
Re the whole weight thing! Under weight people are just as at risk as over weight people, but they don't like to tell you that! |

I read lots of sources and try to keep an open mind.
However that’s irrelevant to the simple question. You say that CV is the 8th largest killer in the UK. How many do you think it would have killed without the lockdown?

We are social animals. It's the way we evolved. Viruses have always taken advantage of this and we have evolved to survive them. This virus isn't going away. We do have the mental capacity to mitigate the risks but biology will out. Saying no to meets is a matter of personal choice and personal risk assessment.
Young people will still need to meet socially to be able to fall in love, get married, raise children and continue the species. Would you suggest that mankind stops procreating until there is a vaccine?would you wrap future generations in sterile bubbles? Genetically screen those who are allowed to breed? We are already in a nanny state where children are sanitised and environments scrubbed clean of the things we need to encounter to develop resistances to. Kids can't learn risk anymore. They don't play in sandpits , run around in the rain or play in the dirt like they should. We wonder why kids have an increase in allergies and sicknesses. We need to face viruses and evolve to tolerate them . It dose take a few generations but if we don't what's left? How can you build a social bubble if you didn't already have one? How can you combat loneliness if you didn't already have a bubble. Talking in forums is fine for a while but we need human contact for mental health. Loneliness is a killer more than covid ever will be. Some of us are luck to have partners or spouses but what about those that don't. Should we stigmatise people for wanting to connect with someone and share experiences? Make your own choices and don't judge those who think differently to you. Life will go on. We just need to stop being afraid to live it. The simple fact about covid is that you will get it. At some point everyone will get it. Some will die and that's horrible. But more will live and pass that squires resistance to future generations. I would rather live a short happy life than a long, paranoid, fearful life. The thought of making someone else sick is more concerning to us than us being sick. If we meet socially we isolate both before and after the meeting. We have only ever played in a first meet once and won't again. Connecting is more important than sex but we need that face to face. We are the social animal and we will survive but not as a scared , cowering monkey. |

"Boris government still dithering whether to make facial mask wearing mandory in school premises."
You know these decisions are you just a check box on a piece of paper, they are researched, debated etc, like every other decision the government makes, remember, novel virus. |

Hopefully the new evidence to suggest the virus is weakening is correct, less people are becoming seriously ill with it.
Early indications are the vaccines trials are going very well
I will only be meeting people in my'fab' bubble, |

Unless there is another outbreak, the risk is now less than being in a road accident, so are we all going to avoid roads and pavements? We are at greater risk from other diseases and were even before the lock down. |

And what do you think could cause another outbreak?
We are at greater risk from other diseases? Really? How are you measuring "risk" and which other diseases? |

Sure, I looked up the figures. Which ones are you using?
https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/publications/deaths-covid-19#comparison-with-deaths-from-other-causes
"The 51,879 Covid-19 deaths registered in England and Wales between early March 2020 to 7 August 2020 comprise almost 10 per cent of all deaths in England and Wales in 2019. Covid-19 deaths already significantly exceed the annual 2019 count of deaths from cerebrovascular disease (stroke) and malignant neoplasm of trachea, bronchus and lung (lung cancer), and are approaching the number of deaths from heart disease (see Table 1)."
Table 1 Leading causes of deaths: persons, England and Wales, 2019
Dementia and Alzheimer disease
66,424 12.5
Ischaemic heart diseases
55,064 10.4
Chronic lower respiratory diseases 31,221 5.9
Cerebrovascular diseases
29,816 5.6
Malignant neoplasm of trachea, bronchus and lung
29,463 5.6
Other 318,853 60.0
Total 530,841 100

"To be honest yes - I will!

We are missing naughty fun. Right now, for us, it still feels too soon to have sufficient confidence to know how this pandemic will play out. Almost certain to be 2nd wave. Also no empirical evidence yet regarding long term health impacts on those who get ill but do not die.
So for us it is a waiting game. We cannot put life on hold but right now there are still too many unknowns to be able to weigh up the risks.
Right now in UK more people are dying of flu but will that continue to be the case?
A bit more time will tell. |

Not sure you’d be safe if I was there
