Here's one for you- and I'm simply putting it out there for thought or discussion.

Clubs are obviously closed for the foreseeable future, obviously due to the nature of activities. However, is there an argument that they can be allowed to reopen when other activities with a similar level.of social distancing is permitted. For example, rugby? And by this I mean ordinary club rugby not professional sport.

Playing rugby has a similar level of physical contact (just without genitals!) and there's no apparent evidence of transmission of Coronavirus via semen or vaginal secretions. Matches are played against "strangers" from other clubs, in the same way that people meet strangers at clubs.

Just a thought, as there seems a lot of pessimism re: clubs, but less so about the eventual return of rugby. Over to you...

How often do rugby players kiss each other or slobber their saliva on each others body parts?

I think it is more that clubs need to be licensed and many councils want to avoid controversy at a minimum

When you play in the front row you are literally cheek by jowl. One of the concerns of the rugby authorities about restarting was just this issue- transmission via saliva and through eyes, nose and mouth

Rugby only has 26 or 30 players and is played outside. Most clubs have more customers than that, and are indoors.

Personally I think one of the biggest things differences you are forgetting is that rugby is socially accepted.

On the whole adult clubs are not and most definitely wouldn’t be addressed with any degree of urgency.

Can you imagine any politician standing up and defending the businesses we use ?
