As actors - I agree - more versatile.

As sex objects - neither

near a big hill in s/ shropshire NOT in

That is a tough question, Al Pacino done an amazing job as Tony Montana in Scarface , , and De Niro is a all around actor they are both brilliant in my opinion

Dont agree to de Niro being more versatile, apart from the deer hunter and a bronx tale he pretty much plays the same person all the time,Pacino-scarface..dog day afternoon...scent of a woman...serpico...cruising (for the kinky fans)...far more versatile.

They were neck/neck as the best actors of the last 50 years, then de Niro in his old age started making all those ridiculous comedy movies, he still has made amazing movies like the recent, THE IRISHMAN, but jzees, those comedy movies, (meet the fockers)etc

Al Pacino also portrayed Satan in Devils Advocate. I can't think of any other actor who could be convincing in that role, not even Robert De Niro.

Taxi driver and raging bull are great movies but he still essentially plays an unhinged brute as apposed to Pacino's roles where he can be dark as fuck or light and soft.

Somehow this movie seemed to have passed me by, I started watching it last night but fell asleep. Murder, mystery, suspense,Mickey Rourke and a very menacing looking Robert de Niro. What's not to like?

I'll give it another go tonight.

I think he did 'unhinged brute' pretty well in Cape Fear too.

They've both been phoning it in for ages, Irishman aside. Earlier work I'd go Pacino for sure, but all he does these days is his Shouty Al Pacino.

De Niro can be versatile, King Of Comedy for example.

Neither of them are the best actors of the last X years though, Daniel Day Lewis, Pete Postlethwaite and Stephen Graham (also in The Irishman, as it happens) are three UK actors that eclipse the pair of them, imo.

De niro definitely. De Niro's acting while silent is the absolute best.

Al Pacino became a bit of an Al Pacino tribute act for a while there too, but he looks like he's trying again now.
