What is curvy really????

To me curvy means hourglass shape. I'm aware that anyone can describe themselves as whatever they want but to me its about the ratios so if you lose your curves when you lose weight then you weren't curvy to begin with.
That's my opinion and I'm sure plenty will disagree haha

I’ve put curvy because I don’t like the other options to chose from. Frankly I’m a big girl but the word ‘curvy’ seems much kinder than ‘large’.
I believe that our profile depicts my size/shape well so using the curvy description isn’t misleading....?

Curvy is a shape
I've always despite any weight gained or lost been an hourglass shape. I go in at the waist and out again in the right places. Currently a size 22 yet the 22 waist doesnt fit me as its much smaller than the rest .

As others have said, I define curvy as a shape now a size.
I picture hourglass figure.
I am curvy.
If you are straight up and down, or bigger in the middle with smaller boobs and bum, that is not curvy.
You can be a curvy size 8-30 if you carry it in the right way. |

Curves isn't about size to me. I think you can be curvy whether you're a size 6 or a size 20. I mostly class curvy as an hourglass or pear shape, it is more about hip to waist ratio with boobs and bum. |

So basically this is a " big women arent sexy thread". Sexy isnt the same from one person to the next. I've been a swinger at all sizes from a 8/10 to a size 32 plus... and my sexy sassiness is the same throughout.

The op is allowed her opinion that she is curvy... as are all of us. It's not for anyone else to decide.
As long as someone is happy in themselves what does it matter.. however there is no need to be horrible to anyone about their size, shape etc.

It’s a bit of a frustration of mine.
I’ve always thought of myself as curvy. I have big tits, little waist, big hips and butt, textbook hourglass figure size 12.
But there are women much, much bigger than me who will describe themselves as curvy, which I’ve found means that a lot of men associate “curvy” with being synonymous with “fat.” Total misconception there!
You can call yourself whatever you want, but I’ve always felt that curvy describes an hour glass figure, and you can have an hour glass figure no matter what weight you are.

I think you are misinterpreting the post related to size 16 and those of others.
The fact that people are disagreeing with you, doesn't mean they are hanging up on you.
In fact apart from a small number of responses, most have been far nicer about the differences in opinion than you have.
For the record, I think that curry is a shape not a size and not appropriate to describe men.
I'm a happy, healthy, and reasonably fit size 14/16, albeit a little overweight. I am also very definitely curvy |

I wouldnt class you as curvy at all. Curvy to me means hips that are pronounced blended with slim waistline and big bust. I think a lot of people get confused with the term though and not in a good way. Your body is fantastic |

Personally, I would class curvy as an hourglass shape, as others have said - small waist, larger but proportionate hips, bum and boobs. In my opinion the OP is not curvy as she doesn't have a defined waist and accentuated hips and boobs, but that is just my opinion and anybody can class their body shape as they see fit.
Generalising about clothing sizes isn't relevant in my opinion if height isn't also taken into consideration - someone that is 4'11" and as size 10, would no doubt be at least a size 12/14 if they were 5'8" and had the same body fat percentage and distribution. |

But what even is dress size really? I know plenty of girls who wear smaller sizes than you would think from looking at them and vice versa. I myself mostly shop for clothes one or two sizes bigger than I am because I like a looser fit, whereas I also know people who will put their clothes in the dryer on purpose just to have them fit tighter. And don't even get me starter on different cuts! For a swing dress I'd have to go down about two sizes, but a pencil dress I'd want a bit looser so would maybe get a size bigger. And that's not to mention different shops. Sizes are not standardised in the UK so a size 12 in topshop could be a size 8 in river island, etc etc. |

But then I have also seen a number of men describe themselves as curvy on their profiles. So what does it mean in this regard? And why do you suppose it means something different for men than it does for women? |
