I'm taking part in a five kilometre run on saturday morning. Im always full of energy on the night, with an extraordinary sence of atchevement.
Does anyone want to take advantage of me or give me a "weldone" treat? in the evening in the teesside area?

Maybe a little bit more effort, before giving it the big one . Or people will just shoot you down in flames . I run 16 k most weeks at the gym but I wouldn't shout it from the forums ! But on the plus side. You don't ask you don't get ! Ps sort your spelling out etc |

Think the knockers should cut the guy some slack. We all start somewhere. And if this was a female talking about race for life the responses would be very different... |

easier running on a tread mill tho, i do between a 5 and 10 mile run every time i go to the gym, usually 5 times a week and i find that easy, i went out last week with my friend for a run round the street and i was fooked after about 20 mins i could really feel the difference, seriously its much harder running round the streets |

The treadmill to a degree pulls you along, try setting it on a slight incline which offsets it. |

Epic, serious respect, what sort of time wpuld that take? 18-20 hours? And just how much training? I'm assuming by your location you've ran the 3peaks?
I ride 15 miles each way to work and my colleagues think that's crazy. So since I've started running it once a week they just think I've lost it totally. God knows what they'd make of that! |

I found that last year.. I had done all my training for race for life at the gym.. Had got myself to a good pace... on the actual race for life I found it much harder..
I think people are being a little unfair on the OP... its obviously an achievement for them... SO what that you can run 50miles.. thats good for you, but let people be proud in their lesser distances..
When I did the 5k last year I was so proud of myself as I would have have been able to do that before..

Fair play!! I run regularly, roads used to be it for me , but since I started fell running my love for it has quadrupled. Nothing better than a lung Busting, quad sapping climb when the rewards at the top of the hills are so breathtaking.;-) |

Most of the people who knock him for it are blokes, who tend to be a lot more competitive by nature, whereas women tend to reassure each other constantly. But being a lad himself he's probably not really bothered by it. Speaking as a man the only main critic I pay any attention to is myself, though I can be a taskmaster at times! And like the guy said considering his circumstances he rightfully feels quite proud of his achievement and fair play. |

Why should he mention his circumstances?
Then people would moan at him for putting a sob story on for a sympathy shag!

just saying he would be full of energy and asking if anyone wanted to take advantage of that , it is a sex site after all . |

not from me, as the run for life is a farce organised by a farcical charity.
i implore anyone that runs it to pay the entry fee and then give CrUK NOTHING MORE!!!!
if you are raising money, giv eit to a cancer charity that actually spends its money dealing with cancer. giving it them is throwing it into a black hole.
now, off my soap box.
i will, on the day of your run, be eating a big bowl of cornflakes.
bag of chips
countless crisps and chocolate bars
then probably a kebab for tea.
bet its harder for me to get to the end of it, than for you to lol |

Why should he? He didn't come on shouting the odds saying "I'm amazing me, no one can beat me, I'm the best with my whole 5km I'm running" he just said he was doing it and wondered if anyone fancied a meet afterwards.
Why does someone have to have had a stroke for you NOT to look for a point to pick at? |

Why are people getting so upset on this thread? No-one's criticised the guy. A few people have said they could run further which is a perfectly reasonable response on a forum and many, like me, have wished him good luck on his run.
On a thread about running, you'll always get people responding with how far they can run. Makes sense. Now everyone cheer up! |

You know what, I was thinking the same thing. Poor barstard posts about something he's proud off and the one upmanship starts to undermine him.
Great for those of you who can run 100k in a hour, ride a bike from Lands End to John O'Groats in three hours and free fall without a parachute and land on your tippy toes striking a perfect arabesque.
Allow the lad his moment. |

Just to clarify, I was not knocking race for life in anyway shape or form. I think that anything that encourages people to exercise is a fantastic thing.
This thread epitimises so much of why people won't join gyms or exercise for fear of people looking down at them. Some of the "boasts" on here are not that impressive and it's pretty pathetic that they are used to put down someone elses efforts. I've had the pleasure of knowing people that have reached the very top of their chosen sports at national and insome cases international levels - without exception these people never boasted about their achievements but would always have time to encourage lesser lights.

You can choose to interpret comments how you like on here. What you see as belittling I see as replying in regards to my own running habits. Some people take offence very easily on these threads and that's the source of most of these annoying little arguments.
If someone posts a thread about managing to take a fist up their bum and someone else replies that only last saturday they managed two then fair play to them in my opinion.
Aaaanyway, back to the point of the thread. Good on you Yorkshire Pudding, but no welcome treat from me i'm afraid |
