There is no best, only different. That and personal preference.
We have a couple of our profile (although they may be friends only, I can’t remember) that we switched to black and white as the room lighting was too yellow and I’m not one for coloured filters.

I love classy photos in b&w for certain situations ie classy expensive lingerie shots, stockings and suspenders etc
But I think porn star type images look better in colour or if something does have beautiful colours like a kingfisher or exotic tropical fish
Black and white is great if the colour in a photograph acts to distract you from what you want to really appreciate.
If you take a photo of a woman in brightly coloured lingerie you tend to focus on the lingerie, same photo in b&w and you really appreciate the woman's figure because your eyes aren't drawn to the colours.
B&w can be powerful and you've still got tones and shades to work with.
The great thing these days is you can take a photo on your camera/phone and look at it in colour and b&w instantly.

A mixture, but it all depends on the subject matter. For example a pic sideways on of a woman’s breasts in black and white silhouetted so you can see her nipples poking out - amazing |

B&W add a touch of erotic normally working best on close ups, ie stocking tops bra strap and cleavage etc.. but doubt you'll see erotic pics in Greggs along side their photo walls of B&W pics. |

depends on the pic, some badly exposed ones can look better in B&W, but realy fussy pics tend to be harder to make out what is what. there is no one style fits all. |
