At this time Asylum has decided to close until the 11th of April as to not put its customers at unnecessary risk during this outbreak.
Townhouse have put a very informative post up on another forum that explains clubs decisions from both sides.
It's nice to see someone actually explain that there are lives going on behind the smiles of those running venues. And that this is a scary time for them as they have to deal with the outbreak themselves as well as the added pressure of loosing their livelihood and the guilt of people potentially getting ill in their venue
My wife and I are still quite new to this scene and were made welcome at Asylum in Rotherham. So much so that we have started to help out where and how we can. Rhiannon is helping behind the bar and I DJ and run tours for them. We are not employees , just customers who love the place.
We have had long talks with the owners who haven't take a wage in the 4 years it's been open and have ploughed everything back into the venue. Even they have decided that now is the time to close for a while. There is a surge in the number of infections just round the corner and the fact that people can be infectious without being symptomatic is a scary prospect. We don't want to send people home from a great night to perhaps infect older family members so until they come up with a way to help with the symptoms it's not worth it.
They will be using the time to improve the place while still trying to survive day to day.
We will be back and will be strip than ever. Please stay safe and keep well. For all those who do get sick , stay strong and take care of one another. This is an Amazing community and you will always find a fellow fabber who will be there. |
