How would you feel if...

So we are wanting to enter the swinging scene a bit more, we have had a meets etc, and would love to start hitting some clubs etc, we always get tested after a meet but the gum clinic mentioned that even though we give blood they still cant test for hep and hsv1/2 - so we researched it..
The symptoms of both HSV1 and HSV2 are similar. People with the virus may display no symptoms, very mild symptoms, or mistake their symptoms for something else. The absence of symptoms does not mean the virus cannot be transmitted to others.
So how do we know we wont pass something on? It worries us as we don’t have the symptoms and our tests are clear but what if we unknowingly pass something on

Because I can assure you. Removing those cells is not a fun experience. "

It can spread by skin to skin, so someone can pass it from touch by hand etc so condoms not really a help? |

Its not the risks to us, its what others think is our main concern, we are willing to risk it, but what if another couple isnt and blames us ?

HSV1 can be transmitted through saliva .... you can get a HSV1 infection on your genitalia ..... same symptoms, same treatment. HSV1 has less less relapses than HSV2. Carriers can indeed be contagious without symptoms ...... its a risk not negated with condoms x |

Safer sex not safe sex.
If you use protection then you are having safer sex, if the risk is too high for you then that's a choice you need to make. Just as whoever you may meet, it's their choice xx |

No, were worried that we are a carrier of a virus and we dont want to pass it on if we are. Estimated 1 in 4 have herpes, every 1 in 3 of those people show signs, so statistically we will have been in contact with like 40 people with herpes |

Do you suffer from cold sores ?.... if so then yes you can spread It through oral sex but generally peeps know when a cold sore is on its way so they abstain.
If you had genital herpes you would know about it |

It's a risk we're all grown up enough to make a decision on. As for blaming... many carriers don't even know they have it so only the ignorant will try to "blame" someone. Their own responsibility. No one else's. |

No neither of us suffer or have had coldsores, and like mentioned the majority of people don’t show symptoms so how can we be sure? We asked the gum clinic to test us and they said the tests can show positive/negative results and they wont do it unless one of us has blisters |

I think you're worrying unnecessarily. But if you're really worried then maybe swinging isn't the best hobby to have. |

I think you’re overthinking this a bit too much
I get tested every three months, which is what has always been recommended. I have never had issues with anything & never felt I had cause for concern. I don’t play bareback & neither does my partner.
As others have said, it doesn’t negate the risk, but it reduces it.
If that isn’t safe enough for you to feel comfortable, then maybe this isn’t for you?

Just going by statistics really, if one in 4 have it, between us we have slept with x amount of people then theoretically we have had sexual contact with around 30 people with it, therefore surely we do? |

Not necessarily think all our amune systems are different like others have said think your overthinking if its that bad then dont do it. Always play safe and if they clean and smelling fresh that's a good start lol |

An initial infection will cause symptoms ...... from that point you are a carrier and HSV can be active without symptoms .... initial symptoms are often mistaken for flu or feeling under the weather .... blisters aren’t always evident x |
