Waxing def lasts longer but go and see a professional doing it yrself can take awhile and there is a technique. Seeing a professional will also help minimise any reaction you might have because wherever yr waxing causing minor trauma to the skin. The root of the hair is actually being pulled out from below the surface of the skin.
Rashes can appear on anybody and aftercare plays a real important part of the treatment and ensuring the skin doesn't become too dry as well as keeping the area clean to minimise any infections in the hair follicle. |

"How painful is waxing? I like the idea of being silky smooth"
To be fair we all have different pain thresholds so u can't gage it like that. Some describe it as a slight sting or slap but that lasts for a second or two. Technique from the therapist to minimise any discomfort is also imp. Some therapists are trained in waxing but not all are trained or qualified in intimate waxing (around the gentials). So before u go and see anyway make sure u find out that they are appropriately qualified. Also depends on what u need waxing. Men esp the chest area can be the most uncomfortable and the sac easiest to do because the skin is thin there and the hair root isnt as embedded like the chest. The area above the penis is similar to the chest and can be more painful than other areas. My advice to u would be try an easier area like the back if at all possible before venturing to intimate areas. |

Very interesting what you say about different areas being easier or more difficult. Just experimenting with different ways of achieving bare and thinking waxing might be the way. Tried it once after using veet a few times and much better, will definitely try again! Mr. |

"Wax
Depends where yr waxing. Alot of men can have breakouts on chest and back first couple of times its done. "
Not just men that can have break outs.
Go and get it done properly and follow aftercare....for me that is using a dry exfoliating mitt on the waxed area from about 7 days after waxing. This helps to stop ingrown hairs. |

I second this - it’s the only thing I can use without breaking out in a rash. And it leaves me very smooth. It really is magic! |

I need to try this as even just trimming closely gives me ingrowing hairs.
Even the sensitive creams give me chemical burns & took it of before the allocated time.
Waxing is lovely, but I still get breakouts as new hair tries to come through |

Another vote here for Magic Powder. Lovely and smooth but don’t leave on too long. |

Always struggled with this myself - I have a fear of anything cutting the skin so shaving was most defiantly out. I tried magic powder but I’d did absolutely nothing for me.
Then I tried Veet for Men and found it pretty much perfect. Left my balls silky smooth, and there was no rash or anything. And follow the instructions - leaving it on too long may very well hurt! Would recommend it to anyone. |

I only wax men and it's the chest and back where its is most common to have a breakout but I'm sure there are areas on women that have a similar reaction. It's quite normal to have this a few times before yr skin adjusts and acclimatises to waxing. However I still have clients that after many treatments still have breakouts and to minimise these advise them accordingly. The difficulty is getting people to follow it, you can only warn them of the possibilities and after that it's their responsibility.
Any waxing treatment should be followed by a simple aftercare regime that should consist of keeping the area clean to prevent any infection and also the use of a good moisturiser. The skin needs to calm down before any exfoliation. The moisturiser will help keep the skin supple and allow the hair to pierce through the skin during regrowth. The problem is that if the skin is too dry from dead cells of skin the new hair is unable to penetrate the skin in its regrowth phase causing the bumps, ingrown hairs and spots. If you are going to exfoliate its should be done gently anything too abrasive will cause redness and the skin will take longer to heal.

I'll have to try the Magic Powder. I love being smooth but waxing doesn't work for me,and if I shave to often it will leave a rash. I did try a semi-expensive lazer hair remover but results were minimal at best. Never tried professionally. |

Best way is not using any shaving foam, dry shave with a dull blade gives you great smoothness......till the next day |

Providing your hair is dark laser is worth a try as it can permanently remove hair, it will not grow back.
You do though have to understand the hair growth cycle and how laser works otherwise your likely to be throwing money away. |

Home used Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) has worked pretty well on my pubis. I do still get a little bit of regrowth after a few months but is probably pnly something like 10% of pre treatment. This is dormant folicles reactivating and requires some periodic retreatment.
Where IPL doesn't work for my is on my balls as the increased blood supply makes the skin too dark for it so I still end up shaving them but I am fortunate and don't get shaving issues there. |

I have used Magic Powder it works but is messy and smells like bad eggs, also used Nads cream but you have to leave it on long enough to work but not too long or it starts to burn, trial and error also smells bad. |

Moisturise daily, the rash is from the hairs breaking through the skin,(And dirt getting under) the softer they are the less irritated the skin. obviously wax and cream but it depends what you want to put yourself through, not many men think of moisturising but soft skin is amazing |

I don’t think it is hair regrowth that causes the rash for me / if I shave/wax I get the rash straight away. |

I have tried many option but I was once shaved by male nurse who advised using talcum powder rather than shave foam if you are going to shave. You do need to trim it shorter first and then apply the talc but it is amazing |

Yeh the op said it comes a few days later so that’s what it sounds like to me, only know after researching it myself. If yours is instant it’s likely you have sensitive skin and it doesn’t like the products(wax/razor moisture bar) if you have a moisturiser you know doesn’t irritate you, use it as a shaving cream it will be a barrier between your skin and the razor bar , always go along the hair they say, never against. Just what I’ve looked up in the past , no guru or anything x |

If you do shave make sure to;
Make sure the skin is warm, bath shaving comes out better than shower
Soak the blade for at least ten seconds in the warm water
Hair conditioner gives a lovely close shave
Shave with the grain not against
Dry well
Avoid tight elastic /nylon underwear immediately after
Ask play partner to wash hands with antibac soap as it's sensitive skin there, freshly shaved means lots of potential micro tears which can lead to folicitus
Be mindful of surfaces you sit on with freshly shaved private parts...swing clubs with hot tubs and damp environments not good idea, use your own clean towel to sit /play on
Sudocreme can bring down inflammation
Look into laser if razer rash is constantly a problem

I recently used a hair trimmer, then wet shaved in the shower with my partner's Venus. I don't recommend the trimmer - too uneven and got a couple of nicks, though I do recommend the Venus for a nice clean shave!
I've been banned from using her razor so I'll buy my own - or I was thinking about getting some warm wax cream (e.g. veet). This is a helpful and timely thread! |

I will do. Didn't try tonight. Hard day at work so I had a nap
instead "
Did the patch test on a bit of my undercarriage the other day. No problems. So went full on tonight.
I followed the instructions and the paste was a lot thicker this time, which made it easier to apply. I left it for 5 of the 5-7 minutes they recommend before removing it.
It definitely works! I'm bald as a coot down below. Unfortunately my labia have swollen and are very tender. I've had to have 2 cold baths already to ease the burn... And I'm giving serious thought to going knickerless at work tomorrow!
This could be because I started with my labia and moved on to my other bits (which are all fine) so I inadvertently left it on there too long, or just the fact that the paste was too thick and concentrated this time.
I'll prob try again in a month or so, making a runnier paste and starting with my less delicate areas. If it happens again it's going in the bin... |

I agree with veet. I slap it on, leave for 20 mins and then scrape off and shower. I'll normally prep the night before so if there any areas that get a bit irritated if has time to settle down.
I wouldn't recommend 20 mins if you've never used it before though.

Danger of ingrown hairs afterwards particularly as the flesh is soft and not taught.
I use oil, morrocan oil, in the shower two to three times a week. Takes no time really. Never had rashes that way. |

I’ve just given the shaving powder a try. Did front pubes dick sack and Butt cheeks. Was a nightmare to mix but got there in end. Put in for 5-6 minutes and then used credit card to scrape away cream and hair in shower. I was very impressed by the results initially. But 3 days later I have stubble on my cheeks and pubus. It’s itchy as hell. So waxing was incredibly painful but results were good and lasted a few months. Shaving powder. No pain but short lived results and now itchy. The hunt continues!!! |

"Heard sugaring is good and less painful than waxing? Or shave every day if you need to or not "
Sugaring is no diff from waxing and pulls the hair out at the root. It still causes a micro trauma to the skin. Diff product, it's natural for a start and only sticks to the hair. It's just a marketing ploy to say it's less painful as nowadays most waxes are used with a tiny application of oil to create a barrier against the skin and wax to avoid irritation. Same result just slightly diff techniques and products used. |
