Depends as everyone you ask will have a different opinion and none wrong!
Personally I prefer winks, so I can check you out at my leisure and wink you back if I like what I see but most will delete all winks for being a waste of time/effort!!
Some men do fine not messaging by chatting in the forums and the ladies will message them whereas off the forums I doubt you'll get many first messages tbh.
So who knows? Find whatever works for you through trial and error... |

Tbh i know exactly what I'm looking for. Due to recieving so many messages aday, I prefer the personal touch. Someone who talks to me with respect and fellow human being rather than a sex object and "any hole a goal" approach. |

Admittedly it is really tough for a single guy to get started on here. The male to female ratio is crazy, so getting noticed can be tough. I attended some meetups/parties and met some cool people through that which helped grow a network. I was looking for the same thing as you, so didn't play with all these people but have made some good friends and also met fwb's. That's just me though. |

You get talking to people and through them get to meet others.
