Single guy going to a sex shop?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I've been curious about buying myself some sex toys for the first time but feel a bit too embarrased about going by myself to a store and don't want to come across as some sort of creepy pervert.
Is it best as a single guy to just buy stuff online or am I just overthinking things here? |

The Kinksters online specialise in male sex toys if you don't feel like you can walk into a sex shop, however, you should just walk in! People walk into Ann Summers in their millions every year; why shouldn't you feel just as empowered by walking into any other sex shop? |

Just go in mate. Don't be embarrassed by it. The sex industry is one of the biggest industries in the world so don't be shy. I do. Plus if it's a big enough store you can get a feel for things otherwise go online. Discreet delivery and you haven't got to walk through town with a sex shop bag or take said bag to work which is what I done once lol. |

Just go for it. It’s a shop like any other and others have said, there is nothing to be embarrassed about But also lots of discreet online stores that deliver in neutral packaging and the reference on the bill is discreet also. |

This exactly. Nothing to be embarrassed about believe me the shop assistant will have seen it all. I love popping in to my local sex shop and having a look around see what's new and if there is something you like ask can questions about it, then go buy it cheaper online . |

Im in a couple of 20 years and I still blush when the old man takes me shopping for toys, and dont mean the lego kind, very often will get oi em have u seen this... Hollered, last time we went in for a few specifics, industrial bottles of lube, lil bottles, you know the regular supplies, the chap in the shop was great and gave us a goody bag of allsorts, better to go to a shop off the high street, so you dont have to do the cha cha slide in and back out and worry about dropping ya shopping |

I don't get how you could be shy! I use to run to get nappies for exes, friends and family as well as go buy tampons, perfume and clothes etc for females.
Today's society is easier to be accepted so you shouldn't have any problems should you worry about your sex going into stores picking up anything! Be brave young man |

Last time I went into the local one the young lady behind the counter was the same young lady I had been talking to at the Jack White gig the night before. Was a good way to break the ice.
The staff are human, just like everyone else, there is no big red flashing light goes off to embarrass you, unless you pick up the anal gnome!! |

Are you for real?
You can set up a profile on a swingers site, upload photos of yourself in various states of both undressed and arousal, but you feel embarrassed about entering an adult only shop alone ???

My thoughts exactly. Post doesn't inspire confidence in any way. Can't help but think it's a wind up. |

Just go in, nothing to be embarrassed about. We all need our supplies now and then. And even if you have a partner there are times you need to go in alone to pick up a few surprises. Genrally the staff are friendly and helpful. The laws of retail and making cash apply jist as much inn a sex shop as they do in any other shop. |

Try not to be too nervous. Sex is a natural, enjoyable activity. Sex shops are there to help us buy toys and accessories to aid and enhance our enjoyment of sex.
The better shops have staff who know the products and who can assist you choosing suitable ones. The days of sex shops being dingy and seedy places for men in long raincoats are long gone. |

Just get on with it. No one cares these days. If you're worried about about bumping into your Auntie Joan in the local Ann Summers then try another one nearby. Mind you, she might be trying the same tactics |

They are also there so we can buy underwear that actually fits. |

Honestly, just stroll in. Most are very friendly and not too seedy. One thing is that they tend to be expensive compared to online shops. It's not a RIP off as they sell less and do have real costs.

I don't see how this post could be seen as a wind up, it is a legitimate concern of mine. Sorry it doesn't make me come across as exuding buckets of charisma and thank you for your kind words |

Morning mate, Ive always had a different view / mindset going back to my late teens my mates were embarrassed to ask for condoms in the chemist, my view is the staff that work there selling condoms is no different to them than selling paracetamol or any other item they will just see it as items of stock that people need, it makes to difference to them what you buy. Rightly or wrongly thats how Ive always seen it
I don't see it in any way different going into a sex shop to going into a chemist or Halfords or Currys what I will say is unlike curry where if it doesn't say it on the box the staff don't have a clue lol, Ive found staff in the sex shops Ive been in very helpful knowledgable, and friendly.
If you do end up going and I hope you do, unlike a specific online search, go in and just have a look around first, you never know you may see something thats not on your shopping list either now which could be a future purchase
Again going back to my late teens one of my mates
wanted to go and kept mentioning it but wouldn't so one day while we were out shopping I dared him to go in with me haha. After he said he was nervous at first but didn't know what all the fuss was about Hope his helps |

"OP why would you walk into a shop and announce you are single? There is no way that the shopkeeper or any other customers would know otherwise."
I wouldn't, but I imagine walking in alone would allow them to come to that conclusion themselves |

I have too say I hope things have changed because my one and only experience of a sex shop was awful, went in to buy a hardcore video of an at the time current page 3 model, it was advertised in the Sport and this shop was listed as a stockist, they tried to fob me off with a softcore video of the same model, wanted £40 for a video you could buy from the Sport for less than £10. |

Confidence and the attitude of walking into the shop without a care in the world that no-one is judging u has nothing to do with "exuding buckets of charisma". It's not a personality test but a test of yr confidence in that what you're doing is 2nd nature and you're not worrying about what other people are gonna think. |

I work is a sex toy shop and more than happy to help men who come in. No different than buying a tv to me, I would tell you what it can and can’t do and any feed back I’ve got about it. Don’t worry just go on in most good shops don’t think anything about who you are and treat everyone the same.
