Just wondering anyones thoughts on messages that people send to you that contain one word... Dare I say conversations.

We get a lot of messages that people send just saying 'hi' or 'hey'. If your interested in someone should it not contain more of a conversation or am I missing something? Or if you do reply and try and start a convo, you still get one word answers but the profile says they like to chat first

I just delete them to be honest x don’t even check out their profile as they haven't checked out mine. Same with the obviously copied and pasted messages you know have been sent to everyone on here hoping someone (anyone) will reply.

It's better than no messages at all

It just baffles me, most of them have looked at the profile too, so in my head, if they then message then it's out of interest but im finding its sooooo effort on my part, which I don't mind but it's got to be two way street surely xx

A simple hi or hello is as pointless as a wink, fire off a question or make an observation every time to get a conversation going. If people don't put the effort in with their messages why would they in the bedroom.

Same goes for the few and far between replies, in my experience if someone does reply on here as often as not it is very short and has limited opportunity to develop a flow of conversation, probably due to not being interested but if you go to the trouble of replying in the first place may as well say not interested.

Depends upon my mood to weather I answer one word or very few word messages often if I do it's just with similar to see if it kick-starts anything or I just delete it if it's hard to have a conversation with the person then they are not for us

I bet they looked at the pics only and didn't read the profile.

I ignore them. It means that they either have nothing in their profile other than "will fill in later" or if they do then they've found nothing of interest in mine.

Either way not for me.

It can be quite difficult to get a conversation going at the best of times, let alone when it all seems to be one way.

Good indication that there isn't much interest there though.

On many occasions I’ve had a conversation of sorts with people, who offer one and two word answers. After numerous messages I think these aren’t going anywhere. I say “take care” meaning goodbye. It’s amazing the effect these two words have.

They often come back with “don’t you want to chat”. Lol.

I tend to spend the effort that has been spent on me in deciding. If I can read the message without opening it, I delete without opening it.

I delete them too. Pointless. It’s not a face to face conversation and people who treat it as such are hard work.
