"I now have no cervix but, when I did it was quite far back and painful.
The trick was to put my hands under my bottom to tilt my cervix up - hope it makes sense. X"
Yes I know that trick.
Lying on your side was another depending on who did my smear. |

I had my first ever smear just over a year ago, I also had to put my fists under my bum to tilt my cervix enough to be seen. |

"Apparently we should be calling it cervical screening as ‘smear’ is scaring woman away."
Well that's a bit silly. I read the leaflet that came with my letter to book an appointment and it said they call it a screening instead of a smear as they now use liquid to store the sample rather than smear it in a microscope slide.
Congratulations on the great news by the way OP |

Yes, I am every six months, due to various abnormal results over the years, I get a normal, then abnormal, then normal, then abnormal, it does become a bit tiresome hence why it is it is easy to become overdue at times, the doctor did ask would I just prefer treatment regardless of the result as they are well aware that the frequency can have an effect on woman stopping turning up for them!
My last one was 'normal' so I wasn't offered anything further, so will just see how this one goes |

I asked the consultant earlier about the vaccine. He said unless you have it before you are sexually active and won't do anything as you have probably already been exposed to the virus. X |

Question from a guy here sorry
Is the smear test the same as a cervical scan?
I know had a letter about being due a cervical scan or screen or something + wondering if this is the same thing? |

Had mine today, there was a student nurse in attendance and unfortunately I think the nurse held the speculum too wide in order for them both to be able to have a proper look, feeling a little bit ouchy tonight, but just glad it is over and done with (hopefully for more than six months this time) but roll on six weeks for the results |

Never missed one. I had to have loop diathermy,( burning cervix is not a nice smell) 20 odd years ago and no problems since.
Great thread....reminded several ladies already. That's awesome ! |
