Just do what you did before if it works for you. Go hang out at a club around the bar and chat to everybody, respect peoples space and be polite.
I don't think men who behave like that look any more desperate than me when I'm at the bar chatting to people.

I find my clubs very welcoming, just drop them a message letting them know you are a little bit nervous as you haven't been on your own before, I'm sure they will introduce you to people and help you feel as comfortable as possible.
I just think of them as sexy pubs or nightclubs where people are somewhat more liberated. |
