Spotting Fakes

Bit worried.

Shared face pic etc with someone - however I'm now wondering if she's a fake (a male pretending to be a woman).

She has one verification, but it's not published.

I can't really explain why - but everything about it just feels "off".

Maybe it's just because she is really in to me that makes it feel weird (that sounds so fucking tragic).

How do I know? Is it possible for a fake profile to receive a verification?

A fake can have several verifications, especially if they are hidden, so you can’t do your own checks

There and to the left a bit

There's a few ways to check for potential fakes, although none of them absolute guarantees/proof, but generally if something smells fishy it usual is:

- Reverse Image Search on pics - if you get a match to multiple porn sites it's a good indication of a fake.

- Veri trail - check not only veris left for the profile, but veris for the profile that left the veri etc - you can sometimes spot a ring of interconnected veris, which *could* suggest the veris are fakes (all it takes is someone to have one veri for them to be able to create numerous profiles all veri-ing each other)

- A single female or couples profile that wants to go straight to sex chat from the off - this very rarely happens from actual women/couple's

- Common sense/gut feel - as I said above if it smells fishy it usually is.

Of course none of the above in isolation are absolute proof a profile is fake, but those things coupled with a little due diligence usually all add up.

Another tip would be to avoid doing sex chat early on, even if the other person asks for it, tell them you'd like to get to know them a little first - if they're genuine they'll accept that, if they're just looking for a wank they won't.

A risky one, but suggesting talking on the phone or webcam can often "out" a fake, but you need to be careful how you suggest it - a lot of genuine people don't do phone/webcam either, but again if they're genuine their response will likely be different than if they're fake.
