Maybe reading this wrong but there seems to be a lot of people who have that their professionals on their profile and in their messages to us, I thought professional escorts/services were against the site rules but seems like one in five profiles is stating this.

I think the OP is trying to be “edgy” about how some profiles describe themselves, and whinging about it in a forum instead of just ignoring profiles they don’t like and move on.

So they’ve either got a chip on their shoulder about it or genuinely ignorant to the fact that other professions exist...

Im pretty sure most dont mean, escorts etc. They mean professional jobs, as in skilked worker, teacher, lawyer, doctor, etc. Personally means very little to me, "oooo you have a job, well done"

Not being edgy or have a chip on our shoulder..

Just assumed having professional stated on their profile meant they were here offering professional services. I never thought stating jobs/careers would give someone an edge in meeting that’s all.

As I stated in my original post I said I may be reading it wrong and as it seems by other replies I’ve been mistaken all along and it’s a reference to their job/career.

Thank you. Appears we have been massively mistaken in our assumption of the meaning of the term on profiles/messages.

It could be. I think the term means different things to different people, despite the official “definition”.

To us it means people who use the term are proud of what they do, irrespective of the role they do, and want to reflect that as part of their personality or identity, in a way to connect with other likeminded folks.

Some people take offence to the term. Not sure why, I think to do so is more indicative of their own issues than anything else.

I dislike the use of the term professional on a profile. It can come across as though they consider themselves better than others. Im super proud of the job i do and it often makes for interesting conversation, but i dont feel the need to plaster it over our profile. I dont consider myself a professional, but i dont have issues about that.

Really..you did not know they mean they have professional jobs..although, I do not see why they need to put this anyway..if a lady was the most beautiful sexy person I have ever seen, but was a cleaner..does that mean I would not met her if I was a professional person and she was not..

We just stupidly assumed that on a swinging site professional meant professional services. Didn’t think a job/profession would be mentioned to attract potential partners.

We’ve been made to feel silly in this assumption and lesson learnt but if you don’t ask you won’t know but we did start our post that we may be wrong.

And now we can see many obviously meant their professions.

Inside the secure corridors of Criminal Intelligence 5, a high-level British anti-crime unit, George Cowley hands out tough assignments to his two top agents: thuggish William Andrew Philip Bodie, who favors a `hit first, ask questions later' style, and the more cerebral Raymond Doyle, a former Docklands police constable.

So unless you are either Bodie or Doyle, you ain't a professional...

Me personally just think its snobbery.

We all have jobs and no one is more important than anyone else.

To label yourself professional, when it comes to being a teacher or solicitor is fine, but it shouldn't be a way of sorting through people you want to fuck.

My job title has the word 'expert' in it.... Am I only going to fuck other experts....

No

I don’t think it’s snobbery at all. My sister works as a city professional in central London. She works in investments but that’s just how some professions are described. As soon as a guy messages me and says he’s a professional working in London, I know exactly what that could mean.

I can't understand why they feel that it's necessary to share on a profile of a swingers site, but it's obviously important enough to them to have to mention it. Maybe it's their way of saying they're busy people, and don't have much free time to meet. I don't know really.

'gym fit'

Does this cause the same ire?

I mean, all of it is perfectly valid in terms of, 'things that annoy' but it's just another criteria people use to select their sexual partners. Whenever a post is made about 'why do people say no xyz' the response is always that people are free to have a preference. This is the same.

Someone on a radio programme about online dating once described a profile as being how you attract the right people for you and put off the ones who aren't. I've always thought the exact same principle applies on here - you're trying to narrow down the choice according to your preferences, not appeal to everyone on the site. Perhaps this is a good example of that?

I can understand a profile that says 'we are a professional couple, looking to meet other professional couples'. I don't understand when it's used in a statement like 'we are a professional couple looking for fun meets'.

To me, in the latter example, it's irrelevant.

I think it is. The problem arises when people take exception to being excluded and mistakenly believe it's a personal insult.

This comes up all the time. They are attracted to people similar to themselves and want to meet someone similar to themselves. In the same way that a ‘gym fit’ person is implying that’d like to meet other gym fit people.

Does it matter in a meet? Yes to some because there has to be some non-physical attraction and the brain is the biggest sex organ. Similarity also attracts so people with the same background, education, etc are more likely to be attracted to each other. The professional tag is just giving clues as to what they are like and who they’d like to meet.

We have that word on our profile largely to indicate that we would have difficulty meeting 8-6 on a weekday, and consider that to be the case for other profiles that use the word too. Someone's job is completely irrelevant for us, we just want to meet fun and nice people.
