No, it's not silly to think about your own health.
I insist on a condom for penetrative sex but I am more relaxed about oral sex.
I understand the risks of transmission of infection are lower.
I would not recommend it if you have, say, a mouth ulcer or bleeding gums - any sort of fissure in your mouth, really.
Ultimately, it is a personal call for each of us to make.
No-one else is looking after your sexual health - only you can do that.

Its the proper definition of safe sex to use a condom for oral. Anything else is 'safer' sex. It's your boundaries and you should stick to them. People sometimes lie about test results and timing. It's not responsible at all!
I'm thinking of one guy who said he liked to fuck bareback but only only got tested once a year it was revealed, for example!! |

No it's not. The only safe sex is no sex. Sex with condoms still carrys a risk. Be it relatively small. Oral with a condom aint for me. I'd rather go without. Your choice how you play OP. |

Some will be fine with it some won’t be. Personal preferences. You sound risk avoiding so using one is fine just ask before meeting that other person is on same page. Otherwise be awkward moment lol

No not silly at all - the whole point is to find a connection which is right for both parties. If the other guy won’t use a condom to start with he’s not taking on your desires and concerns (which doesn’t make him a bad person, just not the right guy for this encounter). As for everyone on here - what you need to feel safe and secure and OK about a meet is important- which is different for all of us. I would agree. STDs are equally passed on via oral sex as by intercourse. I have only ever used condoms with ladies I have met. Even with oral when asked. |

I'd say it depends what you want to get out of it From the receivers point of view, a condom isn't going to massively reduce their enjoyment, but as a giver,unless you're doing it purely for the other persons pleasure,it seems pretty pointless.You might as well put a condom on a banana or a cucumber and suck that instead, it won't feel any different |
