Hi all,
I’m fairly new to the scene and new to London.
I’m really interested in Rio’s but quite nervous to go on my own. I’m not expecting sex and wondered if anyone has any tips, advice on best times to go as a single guy, and what to expect?

Rio's is a sauna-based club in central London, not far from Kentish Town tube station. They do not require membership, but they also let anyone in, as far as I'm aware (that differs a bit on Saturday evenings that are couples only nights). It means they do not monitor the ratio of single men to women/couples.
It is a great place to relax and get your fix of sauna/steam room/jacuzzi, but if you want more socialising, then I wouldn't choose Rio's. I was specifically warned not to go there during the week as it is, supposedly, 'like a meat market', loads of single guys with barely any women or couples.
So to sum up: great place to relax in sauna, jacuzzi or steam room (and you get to watch staff topless), but that's about it, normally. |

Most nights the ratio of men to women is about eight to one. However many of the men are very creepy and pushy. Guys who are not like that have a reasonable chance of playing with a couple or a woman. |

It's not as bad as some people say, especially if your expectations re: play are low. I quite like to round off a night out there if I'm housesitting for my friend who lives nearby. Probably as a result of arriving after 3am there's not been a hell of a lot going on when I went, but I hear non couples nights can be a bit of a sausage fest. But, it's nice just to chill out in the hot tubs or sauna. My least favorite experience was slipping on the floor in the sauna and cracking my knee on the edge of something. It didn't stop hurting for nearly six months... So watch your step... Literally ! |

That may well be because you went on a couples night? It does depend when you go. The times I've been there's been an even(ish) split. But also, there's been hardly anyone there due to the odd times I tend to decide at the last minute to go.
Staff have only ever been polite to me with the exception of an older woman on the door who was a bit snappy... But again, at 3am it's hardly surprising. Anywhere open nearly 24 hours is going to provide mixed experiences I imagine. |

. When I have been to Rios I go with the mindset of enjoy the facilities and anything more is a bonus.For a single guy it’s very hit and miss evenings are probably better than early afternoon altogether I have had some enjoyable early afternoon there in the past |

This sums Rios up perfectly. Couple's night is great and early in the week can be okay but Friday is grim. I used to live near there and would go just to enjoy a naked sauna and still travel in to London occassionally to go there |

Couples night at Rio's is really buzzy atmosphere wise and very friendly.
The rest of the time, the men can be a bit overbearing.
I go on many occasions alone, and as long as you approach me without the goal of trying to fuck me or objectifying me, then I will chat to anyone, man or woman. Also just because I chat with a guy doesn't mean I want him stuck to me the whole night. I've often ended up having some fun with some of the guys and really enjoyed it.
Please don't be a dick to women, and you will get far. We are all part of the atmosphere and have a role to play in making it enjoyable for everyone. |

Friday night and especially Saturday night (well technically Sunday morning after couples night ends) are definitely the worst for bad single guy behaviour at Rios. Outside that, it can be reasonably pleasant and I must say I do miss couples nights.
The desparate, door knocking, constantly opening steam doors looking for women wanking zombies can really spoil things in my view. Unless I wanted that kind of attention, if I was a single woman or even a couple, I definitely wouldn't go at those times. |

If you feel like making the journey down, I can thoroughly recommend BGHS in Brighton. Really nice spa without the worst of the behaviour you can get at Rio's. You just have to follow their simple rules and should have a great time. |

If you go Mon, Tues or Wed evenings, it is naturist (or at least used to be). However when I used to go at those times, I definitely observed one or two people getting away with not being naked. It seemed most of those were well known to staff/Mgmt or at least people the staff/Mgmt didn't want to argue with! |

Quick question to you experts.
What’s it like for a couple post midnight on Saturdays into Sunday.
Do the ladies just try harassed by the guys who have bern waiting outside.
We had our best experience on the busy Friday night with another couple. And our worst on a Wednesday with one guy who just wouldn’t listen and understand no.
So we understands past performance isn’t always a guide to the future. |

You'll possibly get a variety of responses, as evidenced by the varied comments already on this post and others like it.
However from my observation and experience, based on many visits in the last three or so years, I'd say, on average, that the worst behaviour and attitude from single guys at Rios is during the small hours of Sunday morning after couples night has ended.
Of course everyone's experiences can be different, particularly in terms of 'best' and 'worst', but in the context of a consistent average, I'd say that time period seems to attract the worst elements. I assume this is due to the desperate hope that enough couples have stayed on so there is more action going on or potentially to be had than at other times.
The sense of testosterone fuelled self-entitlement, predatory group following of the ever-decreasing number of couples from area to area, knocking on restroom doors and trying the door handles to get in, off-puttingly loud conversations right outside those doors, constant opening and closing of steam room doors solely to see if there are any women inside, over-crowding in the Jacuzzis if there are women there etc. I do find it hard to relax with all that going on, even though I'm not the target.
Despite not generally liking Friday nights much either, for similar reasons (i.e. behavioural), I have had a couple of amazing experiences then, so you can always be lucky. |

The men there have to be seen to be believed. If you go in the private rooms as a couple and lock the door you will get continual door knocking, handle trying and requests to join you. On more than one occasion, on opening a door a man stood behind it has just walked in and I have had to literally push him out.
There's notices saying that people shouldn't hang around in the corridor outside the rooms, but this is not enforced. I assume the place makes it's money from the desperate men and thus turns a blind eye to their behaviour. |

Despite everything that's been said, including by me, I'd go if I were you. Sunday afternoon/evening can be quite relaxing to get used to the place and usually less aggressive with better behaviour than the immediate post-couples night hours. |

There is a saying no two days are the same.In terms of Rios no two experiences are the same go tomorrow and in a couple of weeks time go on a different day and time.From what I understand couples night is perhaps the one time there is no banging on the doors.Go tomorrow at 4.30 pm Tottenham v Man Utd they have a big screen there you can watch the game there and if a young lady or couple ask you to join them in one of the restrooms then you really have a decision to make.

I've hardly ever felt comfortable and relaxed in those restrooms - mainly due to the constant knocking, door handle trying and begging/demanding (yes even demanding) to be let in.
If Rio's were serious about stopping that kind of behaviour, they'd have a security guy there all the time and anyone who broke the rules would be kicked out with no second watning. But of course the lure of sort of being able to get away with to an extent brings in the money. |

We are going ina few weeks for a couples night. And will leave before the witching hour.
Saying that. We will be at Rio’s before then on a Friday perhaps.

Yes the locker key is on a rubber ban and there are lockers that return your £1 coin each time you open it so you can check your phone all anything else you may have to go back for and check.There is a condom machine for you to buy but no condoms or lube in the room unless the previous person has forgotten them.

Just been and it was a decent experience. I took it for what it is...a naturist spa. Don’t expect anything more! There was a lot of guys and a few wandering but nothing dodgy.
I saw a lady getting a nice massage in the steam room and the guy even massaged her intimately.
Unfortunately I was sat in the wrong position to get the best view but it was fun to watch. I’m sure that is a rare experience for a guy to see what.

Well done for going you had lots of good advice from lots of people on this forum but at the end of the day all the advice in the world it always had to be your decision and how the day worked out.As I said in a earlier posting no two days the same.If you decide to go again try a different day and time.I have been on a Friday evening and it can get quite busy lots of people wanting to unwind at the end of the week. |

Having read all the comments on this thread.
This is exactly why we go to bghs, the staff do not allow any nonsense at all and will get immediately ejected if a legitimate complaint is aired,as would couples and females.
We go and I am comfortable with Mrs walking around on her own.
They have great rest room's that the staff do not enter.
The place is being constantly cleaned.
Only gripe is the hot tubs can be ridiculously hot at times.
Good value and relaxing, massages are great also. |

I know it's not easy, but I'm sure you'll get there and without wanting to sound all 'support group' on you, you've taken the first step.
The first time I went to Rio's, almost four years ago, which was also the first time I'd been to any place like that - naturist spa or swinger's club - I didn't say a word to anyone except the staff. Plucked up the courage the second time and was fine thereafter. |

Agree with all the above and I wish I lived as close to BGHS as I do Rio's. Unfortunately it's a bit more of a trek to get down there. |

The ratio is high at any stage outside couples only night. Sunday afternoons should be reasonably relaxing if you want a spa. |

There is a saying no two days are the same.In terms of Rios no two experiences are the same go tomorrow and in a couple of weeks time go on a different day and time.From what I understand couples night is perhaps the one time there is no banging on the doors.Go tomorrow at 4.30 pm Tottenham v Man Utd they have a big screen there you can watch the game there and if a young lady or couple ask you to join them in one of the restrooms then you really have a decision to make."

This thread which has been revived is a bit scary as I made the above contribution about the Man Utd game which was played in 2019 at Wembley 1-0 win to Utd Rashford scored .On the plus side the OP got to find out about Rios with my help as well as others and I got a date out of it from a young lady that also contributed.
