Found a FB.... can anyone now point me in the direction of hotels in the NW that I could use in the daytime and ideally pay cash?

I think you'll find that all hotels now require credit or bank card details when taking a booking, something to do with good old 'health & safety'!

But many of them don't put anything through till you check-in, at which point if you want to pay cash then they'll happily take it.

There's an Etap at Salford Quays, you can get in from 12 noon!

Travelodge take the money when you book. They check in from 3pm

I think most will want credit/debit card details even if you walk up (which is more expensive) in case you damage/wreck the room

Premier Inn take credit/debit details, or a £60 deposit on top of the room charge in case you damage the room.

A pre-paid debit card might be one alternative....

You can check in early at most, from 12, but at an additional cost of £10

get your fb to pay on her card and then give her the cash to cover it, unless she wants to hide it from a partner aswell ?

I used to get annoyed, now it just amuses me that some folk just can't stop themselves from making snide remarks!!

As was said recently, if you don't like or agree with a forum thread, then just move on to the next one!

Have to agree. Total SOH failure by OP. Previous poster was giving sound advice in a tongue in cheek manner. If you dont like it I suggest you steer well clear of the forums!!

PS. Etaps are your best bet. Although I personally wouldn't trust giving my details beforehand just in case they accidently contact you about your recent stay????

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Etap has been taken over by Ibis so only a matter of time because their rules change.

"Etap has been taken over by Ibis so only a matter of time because their rules change."

Sorry, but not quite true!

Both Ibis and Etap are and have been part of the Accor Group of hotels, which trade under at least half-a-dozen different brand names.

The only change which appears to be happening is that Etap is being rebranded as Ibis Budget.

Sheffield

go to phones4u and get a prepaid credit card - i use one for all my online purchases as only what is available on the card can be charged on.

they cost £10 initially and you can put cash on at any branch of phones4u with no charge. there is no annual charge or usage charge. you don't get a bill or statement - its all online.

the only issue i have had is that at least one of the hotel booking services doesn't (yet) accept prepaid cards. i can't remember which one. but i've had no problem with most of them or with places like travelodge.

Doesn't mean she stayed there. I get postcard offers for the Park Inn every couple of months, never stayed there in my life!!!

and if you don't like a comment in a forum thread, stop trying to police it

if it is offensive or inappropriate, the mods with deal with accordingly

if it is upsetting to the masses, am sure the forumites will make both the poster and the mods aware

so, if something troubles you, take a leaf out of your own notepad and move on too

not sure where yu are at with your fb - but one suggestion is to tyr a club - my prefernece would be adam and eves

there's a good welcome, sauna jacuzzi and private roooms -and if the mood takes you get some other involvement

£15 cash on the door - very discreet, no credit card bills - just switch off your location services on your iphone
