Are age ranges in profiles aspirational or absolutes

Jump to: Newest in thread

As a newcomer I tend to read the profile of those whose updates sound interesting but often then don’t go any further as I fall outside of the age profile being sought. So my question is do others reject those who fall outside their age parameters as a matter of course or engage in a more exploratory exchange?

Manchester (she/her)

In terms of messaging, they're usually absolutes (and in fact the default is that you can't message if you're outside that age range). But don't message someone if you can clearly see that you fall outside their requirements. It's rude.

If you’re out of someone’s age range, they’re not interested in you. Why would you then want to message someone who isn’t interested in you?

Surely it’s best to focus on those who want to meet you, and not those who don’t.

Hiding in the shadows

I set my lower age range, based on my location, age of my oldest children & a former job.

I don't want messages & wouldn't arrange a meet with anyone locally ever, under that limit.

But I've met people (not local) through forum chats, then at group socials & clubs who fall slightly under it, and having got to know them... Made an exception.

You'll soon find out if you try messaging or winking at them.

Some have filters set so that only those who fall within their defined age range can contact them, whilst others may be more flexible in that they don't have the filters set and see the age range as more of a guide and may instead consider others on merit

I wonder why people bother having age ranges on their profiles.

Because they prefer to meet people within those ranges?

So they have a set of rules they can ignore if a hottie with an 8" cock and abs like a washboard catches their eye...

"Oh the age range , thats to filter out the kids I prefer a man like you "

If their age filter are set then it is is a given that that do not want to meet anyone outside that age range. But if they are not set we then take it that they have taken a flexible and open view on those age ranges.

The age range on our profile is the age range our filters are set at. We don't want to meet anyone outside that.

Socially we're more than happy to chat to anybody but organised socials, chat rooms and forums cater for that.

Same here, although when we meet people at Clubs it is about pure attraction, we don’t go round asking for age proof. It is simply a filter on here

Nearby Hinckley

This is a very interesting question.

In clubs on my experience, age range mentioned on here, tends to be blurred. I guess joys of meeting someone face to face and not behind a keyboard.

In clubs I have gone well outside my age range. But I wouldn’t on here.

That's what I thought too.... but so many people ignore what profiles say.

Far too many.

Or they think you’ll make an “exception” as they claim to be polite, handsome and blah blah blah.

It would be better if they respected the fact many people have preferences, and that’s that.

My lower age range is set in stone, my upper limit is more of a guideline, only by a couple of years though.

I've put my filters on, to stop anyone out of my range messaging me.

I set them a couple of months after joining.

I still get the odd message from men who contacted me prior to setting them.

So 16/17mths since I said no thanks, and explained why... I was polite back then, and they can get past my new settings.

Instant block, I'm afraid!

I hope that people make an exception for me because whilst I'm a fucker, I make no secret of it. I also have a soft side

Tis just guidelines!

(Except if they are same age as either of my parents then it's a firm NO)

My age range was set at what age I tend to still look at women. I won't go anywhere near my mum's age, as the dynamic should change in the worse possible way.

It is knowingly mandatory, unknowingly optional.

If someon can’t respect basic boundaries in my profile, I’m certainly not going to risk them overstepping any other boundaries
