Best advice I would say is. OP, lube yes, but as your partner is putting pressure on to push in if you push out as if your trying to push him out, like pushing out a hard poo, then it helps your muscles extend to allow him in. This. The pushing might seem counter-intuitive but really does help, stops you clenching for a start but also helps relax the sphincter. Plus lube and maybe a trip to the toilet first? Start with a finger and work your way up and remember just because some can and do doesn't mean that you can and will like it.
Note that without enough lube it'll hurt just as much as you might expect and could put you off forever so go mad with the lube and slowly reduce it to an appropriate amount by trial and error.

As previously said it’s easier to do doggy and let your wife push on to you. That way she’s in control of how hard and when to push. Once she’s comfortable then you can start to move gently.
