So, someone outed us. I picked up my eldest from a party who got in the car and said "we need to have a talk!". One of her friends said we'd been seen at a local bar known to be owned by swingers, who had propositions this friend's parents. Something like that, it's a bit unclear as she doesn't want to rat out her friend.

We had been to that bar, but we never swung there and had no idea the owners were swingers. But to lie would have felt wrong.

Anyway it led to a very open discussion. I had assumed she would be squicked out, but actually she was just happy we're happy. She said she was glad we had found a way to make our marriage work again and she was just sad we hadn't told her. I was careful to point out that we were swingers because we'd fixed out marriage and made it stronger fir st so could be more open with each other about our feelings, rather than the other way around, I.e. swinging to save our marriage.

I apologised for not telling her and made sure she knew it was only because we didn't think she would want to know that sort of thing about her parents.

Then I told her slightly younger sister because eldest didn't feel comfortable keeping such a huge secret from her since they're so close.

I'm relieved. I figured either they would work it out eventually or word would get back to them since we live in a fairly small community. I just hoped it wouldn't.

The only concern I have is that they are our baby sitters and it feels wrong somehow going out to do stuff, leaving them in charge of the kids and them knowing what we're going out to do. But they don't seem like they have a problem with it so I suppose we shouldn't either.

I guess it's 2018 now. Attitudes are different.

Sorry, I just needed to talk about it with someone and we don't have any IRL friends in the know we can confide in.

What are your experiences? Do any of your kids know? How did they find out and how do you feel about it?

My adult daughters know I meet men for sex. The younger one said just be safe. Her partner came out to the car when one man picked me up from outside hers and lectured him about looking after me.

It’s great to hear that you were able to have such an open and honest conversation with your kids. So may people are so scared about what would happen if they found out. I’m absolutely thrilled for you .

We don’t have kids so it’s not something that we have to wrestle with. My family, friends and coworkers know so that I don’t have to lie to them about where I’m going or who I’m meeting but it’s a different ball game altogether.

I'd worry more about when they get abuse about their parents being swingers from others...

They are only teenagers after all...

They think swinging is probably 40 year old mums and dads...

If they look into it and see everything that goes on...Its just jezza kyle waiting to happen

My son's are 29 and 25

As I am not very good with phones/ internet etc, they give me a hand so have noticed I am on fabswingers, the only reaction I get is a knowing smile..

I don't think either of them are on fabswingers but I have noticed one or two of their mates, whom I blocked.

It could be very awkward so well done in dealing with it so maturely.

Yes I'm definitely worried about this, it's probably the aspect I'm least happy about and also the thing I have no control over. Short of going back in time and not swinging there's nothing I can do about it. I just have to hope her friends handle it as maturely as she has.

She's also fiercely defensive of us, whatever she may think of us at any given point she'll never let anyone else criticise us. So I think she'll be fine. I hope.

as goes for op they could have just said, they went in for a drink nothing more.

seen as it was mentioned its a known swingers place, dosnt mean that others cant have a social drink in there.

Absolutely and actually that's all we were doing there. However that would be lying, and I'm not comfortable with that.

If they'd ever suspected and asked us directly or asked us questions that showed they had an idea of what we were doing I'd have done the same thing and told them. That's the only way to engender trust in your children.

Although I didn't mention in the first post that before answering her question the first thing I asked was does she really want to know the answer. And let her think about it. That gives her an out where she can have her assumptions sort of confirmed but she can put her head in the sand and pretend she doesn't know, and that we don't know she knows. I thought that might have been what she'd prefer, but she decided she wanted to know, and so I answered her questions directly. But obviously without too much detail.

Same with the younger daughter. I said "your sister has found out something about our personal life, before we talk about it, do you want to know?"

OP, I think its good that you could have that conversation with your children. A swinging couple approached us in our local town, not a great experience, as we were concerned my stepsons would find out and our grandchildren would be mocked in the school playground. The youngest son once said to his dad, as long as you are happy dad....so we think he knows

Firstly I didn't say would she like to know a secret, I said that her sister had found out something about our personal life. She then asked whether it related to sex, to which I said yes, and she then gave it some consideration before deciding she wanted to know.

And in the past I have had conversations with her (especially when we were going through some pretty serious marital problems) where I've asked whether she wanted to know how things were going and she said actually she'd prefer not to.

Maybe other people's teenagers are different to mine, I can only talk of my experience with my own.

It doesn't really matter how they found out. The story they told my daughter is all the information I have to go on.

Ultimately the end result was my daughter confronting me about it, and faced with that situation I decided not to lie to her. A lie of omission is still a lie. If (likely when) she found out about our swinging, and we'd denied it to her when she specifically asked about it before, how would she be likely to feel? Trust is important.

I'm just saying you may think they are both accepting which is good.

Its just they now have to accept that It is public knowledge now and they may have to feel the brunt of it due to their age (school/friends/neighbours/social media)

If a man though my family being worried about my safety was drama I'd be glad he cancelled. He thought it was funny.

"

Not the same situation is it..

going to a racially based restraunt vs a swingers club

They weren't in a swingers club. They were in a bar owned by swingers.

As OP stated...."They propositioned this friends parents"

If owned by swingers & trying to swing with patrons...I'd call it a swingers bar"

If it's not advertised as a swingers bar it's just a bar that happens to be run by people who swing.

"So, someone outed us.

How did they find out and how do you feel about it?"

doesn't want to rat out a friend?? i think loyalties should lie with you, parents. you need to know these people as they should be outed as liars and untrustworthy by the sound of things

I'm assuming it was a fab meet?

If i had met a lady on fab and went to pick her up to be given a "talk" by her son in law...i'd consider it weird.

Absolutely shocked you get meets with people due to your attitude in this forum. You may consider that weird but some may consider it safe. Single women put different safely measures in place sometimes. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t meet people online, Each to their own, much like your views on Jeremy Kyle. Most people don’t have time to watch that because they are out working with lives, nothing to do with class. Go find something better to do

You assume that i cannot work & watch rubbish TV?

Your suprised i have actual meets? It might be because i voice my agreements and disagreements instead of being "yes" people like most of the forums seem to be.

Your last paragraph, again making assumptions about people. This is an open minded place and I wish we lived in a more open minded society so we had the freedom to discuss with family like the OP did. Good on them

If you read my reply correctly, you may see that I said people have different safety measures, no body insinuated you need to take your Mum on a meet! Haha just don’t judge people for doing things their way

Well done for voicing your wants and desires before meeting people though

I disagree...i wouldn't want to sit down with my parents and hear about their latest trip to Vanilla alterantive or a night at the BMFC.. Open society; peace and love and what not.... yes

...discussing my parents sex lives....hell no

I don't suppose the OP gave the daughters a blow by blow account of their meets

"And then i watched your mother get bukkaked"

My mother's dead "

and thats my joke done..

"My adult daughters know I meet men for sex. The younger one said just be safe. Her partner came out to the car when one man picked me up from outside hers and lectured him about looking after me.

I think i would cancel the meet if that happened, Just seems like drama waiting to happen!

If a man though my family being worried about my safety was drama I'd be glad he cancelled. He thought it was funny.

If your worried about your own safety don't meet strangers from the internet... quite simple really?

I'm assuming it was a fab meet?

If i had met a lady on fab and went to pick her up to be given a "talk" by her son in law...i'd consider it weird.

Absolutely shocked you get meets with people due to your attitude in this forum. You may consider that weird but some may consider it safe. Single women put different safely measures in place sometimes. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t meet people online, Each to their own, much like your views on Jeremy Kyle. Most people don’t have time to watch that because they are out working with lives, nothing to do with class. Go find something better to do

Nort to explain a joke but it was in reference to OPS daughter being told about her mum... after you metioned a "blow by blow account"

I find many things amusing though. Reddit does that to a person..

My son knows I’m bi and is cool about it but doesn’t want to see anyone, so only accommodating when he’s out. I think your kids must have been brought up enabled to see, think, ask and your reaping the rewards for that now. Good for you all.

Mate i've turned up at a house to find id be catfished by a old man...if safety is paramount...stop meeting strangers!

cool next time i go to fuck a stranger i'll bring my mother along with me for safety....

We dont discuss, they've both moved out. Daughter respects its our private life, code is party end of convo

Must get confusing if its a vanilla party?

No if i message saying meet for lunch, reply is Party? I say yes thats it

I'd just block my mother

She's not on here doesnt know we are not her scene

I meant her phone number & further contact lol

No she's cool with us going clubs - when I replied foam party tho she replied strange lol

Lol..Foam party you could easily just be raving!

I wonder if she googled other meanings for foam party?

Shes 20 so knows lol, just thinks weird her parents out raving lol

No she might of been like

"Is foam party a code like golden shower"? lol"

You’re a brave man and I commend you for voicing your opinion....

But the forums is not the place for honesty or debate.... it’s a safe place to get hugs....

So I will give you some advice to stay in the good graces of forumites....

1- every woman is beautiful

2- don’t ever state any preference because it’s body shaming

3 - guys who like cock are not gay

4 - men who play away are the scum of the world

5 - no one ever barebacks

6 - cock pics are never good

7 - BBC is a bad term

God speed my friend, I hope to see more posts from you.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my parenting. I'm very proud of how my kids have turned out, like all teenagers they have their mad moments but when the important stuff happens I know I can count on them.

And bloody hell, a good half of the replies on this post are that one chap arguing on and on quoting the whole comment chain each time.

I got outed many years ago by someone to my older children. They took it pretty well. My oldest just doesn't talk about it. The others prefer it to me dating as such.

It's a shitty thing for someone else to do but there is also nothing wrong with what your doing

Sharing the secret is surely the main thing for them and they probably won't assume you go out all the time to swing. It probably doesn't need much discussion from now, except I'm sure you have left them open to talk about if they want to. Now it's like you all go on living your varied full lives.

I've shared stuff and then it disappears into the background , they all went to know I'm safe etc.

We've got a different family dynamic to most in this thread I think.

although we have been open with our kids both now in their late 20s if someone had "outed" us as swingers to them we would have said that our private life is nothing to do with them or their friends. We don't ask for details of their most intimate relationships and don't share ours with them. We don't see it as keeping secrets more as respecting privacy.

Of course that doesn't mean I think other's dynamics are wrong.

I have never had a conversation with my parents about my private life and probably never will....

I have had conversations with my father about my parents marriage and certain aspects of it that impacted directly on me and about my first disastrous failed marriage. I would never dream of telling either parents or children about my sex life but then as I said I don't view it as a secret that they need to know about.

Happy to accept that others do.

As I said, we think one of my stepson knows, he probably wouldn't understand, but he wouldn't question us, he would respect our privacy, as we do his. When we were confronted, we had several grandchildren at the local primary school, whilst they wouldn't understand what this heard, they may hear their parents say something about it. School playground here is rife with gossip. We wouldn't want our grandchildren ridiculed over it.

Pretty right wing view...

First time in 52 years anyone has said I had a right wing view...thanks ...I hadn't realised the right wing endorsed liberal sexual encounters of the swing kind (extreme views at either end of the scale are in fact similar) the totaliterian gagging of free speech occurs mainly in socialist elements where the party knows best. "So, someone outed us.

How did they find out and how do you feel about it?"

That’s fantastic!

Our kids are older so haven’t had to cross that bridge however we joined fab and another site the other week and ended up finding MRS younger brother and blocked him, however he has since come up and told us not to look for unicorns in some local towns as he wants to avoid cross over. Our kids know, they worked some of it out themselves and we don't bullshit them when they ask questions, never have. They get the basics not the details and it works much better than sneaking about. They processed that some time ago and even take the piss now which can be quite funny as we're leaving the house in fancy dress
