I sometimes read them then turn them back to unread to remind me to reply when I have more time.

Ah ok. Just noticed that it's an option which I've never clocked before. Cheers

We have the option to read a message then "mark it as unread". I often do this if its someone I chat with, if I have no time to reply right then so they dont think I have read it and ignored. Or if I am not sure yet about replying to someone new I mark it unread so I don't forget and lose it in the rest of my mail

I’ve actually done this myself.

When I’ve read a message but don’t have time to reply immediately, I’ll mark as unread so it doesn’t look like I’m not interested

Hiding in the shadows

As others have already said, marking unread because I havn't got the time to write a reply, get into a chat with someone at that point in time, or maybe need to check dates, times etc before I can answer.

If I wasn't intrested or intend to reply, I'd delete

I've been assuming that it's "not interested, but don't want to get into a thing about it if I delete it" cos some people might get funny about it?

I sometimes change it to unread until my partner sees the message- we don’t live together and have busy life’s so wait until we’ve both seen message

We sometimes do this so that the other half can read the message before the sender thinks that they're being ignored.

"I sometimes read them then turn them back to unread to remind me to reply when I have more time. "

We’ve taken to doing this too, helps keep track of conversations especially if speaking to one half and the other opens the message.

If it’s not deleted then your still in with a chance

It's when they read the message backwards, it becomes unread when they get to the top...

"Anyone else noticed this happening before?"

Simply means that it has been read and perhaps the member want to read it again later - so see it as a maybe.

Simply means that more than one 'reader' in the profile and the first reader has marked it as unread for the second reader - so see it as a maybe.

I read messages throughout the day. I don't always have time to reply there and then. If I mark a message 'unread' after reading it, that's me flagging it to read again and reply later.

Some people read too much into not getting an instant response. Few things are more annoying than the kind who has a full blown hissy fit because they can see you've been online but didn't instantly reply to their last message.

Often... older people read things, but then forget what they read. The new AI features on FAB assess the user's memory and set messages back to UNREAD when you've forgotten the content.

I do this if I don't have time to reply back properly. Then I know it's still to respond to when I do have time.

Often do it so partner can see which are the new ones. Nothing at all meant by it other than that. So it isn't an indication of anything I'm afraid. Other than maybe a real couple, lol.

I will do it if I want to keep a message to answer later, it reminds me that it is there and avoids it getting deleted when I do a delete all read clean up.

Mark it unread if we want the other half to have the opportunity to read it too.
