Is Pampass Grass a signal ?

Nuneaton

I have recently been asked by a friend, if they put Pampass Grass in their garden is it a signal for swingers.

I have been swinging for nearly 20 years without the aid of Pampass Grass, is this a 'thing' or something that goes back to the 60's - 70's ??

Thoughts please ?

It's a myth.

It may have been a signal in the days before the internet when everything was arrange through contacts magazines but not these days.

It was a story I was always aware of as a child, so I’d be inclined to say it was a thing in the 70’s when technology stretched to personal ads & it wasn’t easy to find other Swingers!

I think it’s massively outdated, if it is still a ‘thing’ then our local police station and leisure centre have the signal outside!

We have s.

We also have a fruit bowl with several bunches of car keys; the cars are in the cul-de-sac, no idea where the owners are?

Nah it just means they are a bit of a dick who believes any crap people tell them. Say the fish symbol in the car window means folk are up for fucking anything and enjoy being approached in public.

Sorry folks, you're all wrong. People planted Pampass grass outside their houses back in the day, to let everyone know they watched Little House on the Prairie. X x xxx

Pampas grass, ankle chain, hot tub in the back garden, chameleon emblem are all well known symbols.

The fish symbol is not, as I discovered after chatted up a very handsome guy in a carpark recently

I think it used to be in the 70s/80s. Though I happen to have a huge 10 foot tall crop of the pampas sprouting proudly at the head of my drive..

"iv heard a black ring? lol"

I would doubt if many non swingers would wear a black ring on the appropriate finger on the correct hand. Though I may well be wrong.

I whave worn one now for about 18 months but am yet to see anyone else wearing one.

The red Indians in Papua new Guinea use it as dusters for the house but also as camouflage for when they are hunting elk with blow darts

There are many myths like Pampas, Ankle Bracelets and Black Rings etc... the reality is that most people need discretion and any "true identifier" would soon be public knowledge, so the just would work.

If my dad was alive, I'm sure he'd confess that they were swingers too. I'd be more concerned about the headmaster or students knowing.

Tell your friend it's 100% true, next house he sees with Pampass grass, just stroll right up to the door, knock loudly, when they awnser give a big wink an "Oi Oi I see you have a Pampass grass", once that code has been delivered he can whip his old chap out and expect an immediate invite in to play.

Apparently it happened to Mariella Frostrup if you can believe the Telegraph, I prefer to meet over the internet rather than strangers perving my grass.

Pampas grass as a sign of swinging first came to light in Dec 2005 in 'The Comic Strip Presents' starring Rik Mayall and the others of that alternative ilk. Google Comic strip series 3 ep 8.

It was VERY funny indeed. I suspect it was first transmitted well before 2005 but went through BBFC in 2005 when issued on DVD.
