Will you be e-cigging when you meet?

"Will you be e-cigging when you meet?"

That would depend on how long the meet was for, If it was for a coffee then No but if it was for a alcoholic drink and dance afterwards then yes

If you are still vaping nicotine, then I would suggest you remain as a smoker. I can taste vaping nicotine.

The alternative is to put it in your profile.

Vaping is far preferable to smoking cigarettes as the smell of fags on people is very off putting. But you should still own up to it in your profile.

You’re a non smoker! If you choose to then there’s no harm in mentioning vaping and some may appreciate it. You do not smoke despite the nonesense replies suggesting you tick smoker !

I don't class vaping as smoking, people don't meet smoker generally because of the smell and taste it leaves on a person, vaping doesn't leave any smell on a person, I would say put non smoker but just explain in your profile that your an ex smoker who vapes x

Vaping and smoking are very much not the same thing, despite looking similar.

Vape doesn't soak into your clothes, and it doesn't make your mouth taste like ash tray. It doesn't stain your teeth and it won't leave a lasting smell behind you when you go.

However a lot of people consider it the same so I'd maybe mention it in your profile.

We vape but are unlikely to ever do it during a meet so haven't put it in our profile.

"yes you are still smoking

No you are not! you are billowing smoke out your mouth like a dragon, to me that is smoking, my opinion."

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but it's an aerosolised vapour of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine with nicotine. Research has shown that passive vaping has no negative health effects. Scientifically it's very different to setting tobacco on fire and inhaling it.

Practically speaking it doesn't have the same taste, smell or nastiness as smoking.

I absolutely respect that some people don't like it. However it's not the same.

Really they should add a vaping checkbox.

I vape, I don’t ‘billow’ and certainly not the smoke you refer to! I feel duty bound to offer fact where your opinion is incorrect! Like I would if you said a tomato is a motorbike!

Some do! But that’s not really a good point. ‘Places’ sometimes don’t allow dogs, food, drink, even gypsies! those ‘places’ make their own policies and decisions regarding what may or may not be allowed.

Exactly my point. To me, smoking is the overall name for the anti-social activity that encompasses cigarettes, cigars, , vaping, etc...

If you're inhaling something through a tube into your lugs, then exhaling smoke/vapour/whatever else comes out, you are smoking. You can call it vaping, but some people might still not want to be surrounded in a fog of your lung exhalation.

Either, tick smoker and explain on your profile. Or, tick non-smoker and explain on your profile.

I don't mind smokers who aren't heavy smokers, as long as they don't want me to sit outside, in the cold smoking area, or kiss them with nicotine tasting saliva.

Vape I don't mind so much, but I still don't want to be outside in the smoking area.

On that point (the last) I totally agree! I don’t go into vape shops where the staff try their best to fill the space with vapour ... I don’t like it.... I also don’t vape in indoor public spaces, nor will you find me ‘billowing’. The nature of the person is antisocial or not, not the activity. More than anything though .... I do not smoke!

Untick smoker .... it’s not smoking!

Inhaling from a tube .... if it’s smoke and it’s made from combustion of a ‘fuel’ that’s what’s known as ‘smoking’. If you vaporise some liquid by contact with a heated coil ... that would be vaping.

Quite clearly 'vaping' is not the same as 'smoking' and nobody on this thread is arguing that it is.

However Fab only gives limited options, and most people on this site, I would suggest, would understand 'smoking' as also including 'vaping'.

Just like how 'bisexual' can also include 'pansexual', and 'TV/CD' can include 'genderfluid'.

E-cigarette as a catch all term isn't helpful, but saying vaporiser sounds like something Dr Evil would use. A Clearomiser is no better.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion etc, but the anti-smoking lobby will still see it as smoking.

As an ex-smoker I used the vapouriser as a nicotine replacement therapy. It got me off the nicotine until I was able to break the habit. Spending a month on 0mg Nicotine before packing in completely allowed me to see how much of a habit it became.

My GP congratulated me for stopping smoking when I switched and put me down as ex-smoker despite vaping.

However... I understand those who hate the Monster Cloud producers.

Put whatever you are comfortable with OP.

If the something they’re puffing on is a cigar, cigarette etc and produces smoke you’re right. If it’s vapour that’s produced then it’s not smoking.

Whatever any one “sees”, “classes as”, etc is irrelevant the hard fact is it’s not smoking! Offering opinions regarding something that is simple fact isn’t bright..... vaping is not smoking ... it’s that simple! Attitudes and opinions towards vaping are fine!

No I vape prior to meeting and after not whilst with them unless of course they also vape. They are giving me their time I don't waste it going off to vape. That's just me though, people do what they feel ok with x
