Recognising something disturbing

Say you chatted to someone on here and once swapped pics etc, recognised them as someone you know from the local area who is on the sex offenders register for having sex with minors.....
How would you go about flagging that up to Fab? There’s not exactly a category covering that on the report someone option!
Also would you stop there? Or contact other authorities? I’m thinking the police would give short shrift if I called and said “on a swinging site”...
advice? |

I don't think I'd want to continue the conversation personally but would being on here be in contravention of the restrictions set? |

It's 18 and over so I don't think anyone would do anything ..but it's worth letting admin know as many people on here have children |

That’s what I’m not sure on, surely it would go against the regulations of being a sex offender? |

Report with a link to the newspaper report I find is enough to get them banned. |

You could still report under the 'other' option and contact the police on number 101, at least then your conscience is clear |

Sex offenders can't be on here. But I would assume their SOPO stops contact on social media as well |

If someone is on the sex offenders register they are more than likely (but not always) have additional conditions called SHPO or SOPO. Either of these may prevent someone being on the site depending on the nature of their conviction.
However, Fab does state when you register that you shouldn't continue if you have a criminal conviction.
You can report them to the site. You can also report them to the police, usually there is a specialist unit for these offenders, but generally members of the public can't call them direct, you have you go through the non emergency line and someone calls you back. But be prepared to have all the information they need. |

I thought if you were on the sex offenders register then you weren't supposed to be on sites such as this, if I was in a similar situation then I think giving the police a call would be your best bet. Fab admin and owners I don't suspect could action if he was within the rules of fab some people may make spurious claims about innocent parties?

Not always. If they are contact offences it is rarely a SOPO condition not to use internet sites. |

Would there be a time limit on any social media restriction? The offence was almost 20 years ago so not sure if that’d make a difference? |

"Would there be a time limit on any social media restriction? The offence was almost 20 years ago so not sure if that’d make a difference? "
It depends when the conviction was. If it was 20 years ago then they may not even be on the register, let alone any restrictions. If the conviction was recent and the offence was contact not grooming they may not have social media restrictions either.
It's very complicated. Report, then atleast you know you've done everything you can. |

I assumed it was recent, I don't know the rules or the details of the case but whilst not pleasant he may no longer be on the register so any of the above may not apply? |

Google the name and then place of where they live. It should bring a newspaper report in the local rag which you can report to admin.
This is how I get the piece of filth reported on here that I used to see. His name pops up and I report with a newspaper link. |

I know of an offender on here who has restrictions on his internet use. In theory he should be unable to access adult sites. Unfortunately, despite being reported to admin by several people, his account is still active and he is regularly online.
He has also been reported to the probation service as he is breaking the terms of his sexual offences order but they haven’t taken any action against him. Just being on here could be enough to see him sent to prison, if the probation service could actually be bothered to do anything about it |
