Hi all,
I genuinely don’t know where to start, or indeed what action to take.
Out of the blue today I received a message from a guy saying he was going to ‘come over and smash my ass in’, as he knew I was ‘at home’.
Stupidity took over and I replied asking how the person could know this as we had never spoken before.
To cut out a lot of messages and save you the boredom it got more and more aggressive and then I realised the ‘find who is near’. I did this and it said a 2 minute walk. After several more horrible messages I checked again and it said ‘within touching distance ‘!!!! I have never seen this before.
The guy sounds deranged. I had a meet a few days ago locally but don’t think it’s connected at all.
I have saved all the messages instead of deleting them and reported but I have my children staying the next few nights and am really starting to worry.
I feel really uncomfortable reporting this to the police as I am sure you can appreciate and also nothing has happened yet. But....
I have taken the baseball bat out of the boot of my car tonight (genuinely) and I’m not a wimp but it’s my kids I’m really worried about.
Why does this site harvest such scum? |

Report and block. If you think this might be a genuine threat, contact the police.
What’s the “find who’s near” thing though? We’ve used the who’s near feature on this site, and it isn’t any more specific than telling you if someone is within a quarter of a mile. Never seen the “two minutes walk away” or “close enough to touch” thing. |

Me either and that has me concerned. |

Yes thanks. I think I’ve called the feature the wrong name. One of the main points is that I’ve never seen ‘2 minutes away’ before and certainly never ‘within touching distance’. So I’m guessing I’ve either been hacked, or as is my genuine concern that the person was outside or extremely close to my house at the time of posting these vile messages. |

The police see this kind of stuff. It's their job. Keep the messages report to admin txt the idiot telking him you are handing the messages over to the police then block
The threat of police action alone should put him off may be go unlos.
Do not use the baseball bat...other than as a very last self defence thing...othetwise you may be the one with police problems
Good luck OP. If you have a friend here you can trust send them copies of the messages and use them as a contact for future meets to ensure your safety. |

So was it just in his messages that he was saying “touching distance” etc, or was it a system message on his profile? If it was the former, it’s likely he was just trying to wind you up. |

What exactly are you looking at? Those two phrases simply don’t exist here. |

Thank you for the replies. I have taken a screen shot of the ‘within touching distance’ and ‘less than a 2 minute walk’ etc just to reassure myself I am not going any more crazy than I already am!
The messages progressed to a genuinely unpleasant and threatening level. I don’t really feel blocking on it’s own is a response at the correct level. |

Recently had my very own after what was an amazing meet who then turned into a right loon.
He really frightened me that someone I met who was charming turned into a clingy nutter claiming he loved me! |

"Hmm wow good looking out, I didn't know that worked so well. Maybe it's for site supporters but everytime I click on it, closest I've gotten was 'within a mile'"

Police can't do anything until this psycho is standing at your door unfortunately. Do save the messages though.
Think he's messing with your head to be honest, besides being a total psycho. Can you switch off "who's near me"? Maybe that'll stop the location being so precise. And ask fab to not pinpoint the locations like this! I'm sure they can easily change that. Make the nearest one "within a quarter mile" or something. Hope you're ok and this gets resolved quickly x |

I think that's quite a scary feature. Way too specific. |
