Can someone assist me please. I am wanting to block all witheld numbers from phoning me so only numbers I can see can call me,does anyone know how to do it please?
I have called my service provider and thet are getting back to me but on their website it does say you can have it but there is always a but....like only if you have a certain mobile...
My phone is a samsung galaxy s and like to know how to do it then I wont get any witheld numbers.
I will inform the school doctors and dentist that I will be doing this as think when the doctor calls after I have requested it, it comes as witheld number so will make sure I tell them.
Anyone know please.....? |

It depends on your phone but most new ones will let you divert specific numbers or withheld ones directly to voice mail. Read your manual or download one on line. |

Havent read all the comments so someone may have already said what im going to say, it can usually be done in sttings on your handset, but what you may need to think about is that work or other things use withhel numbers, even if you tell them you are doing this they still might not change just for yourself as i found out when i done this, nearly missed out on a job as they couldnt phone but i got there voicemail,
Hope this helps |

Am sorry for sounding really dumb but have never understood this diverting numbers thing??? Am i right it would mean if a witheld number dialed me on my mobile I then divert all witheld numbers so then need another phone for the call to go to so they still get to speak to me after all or does it go direct to a voicemail? But still means I have to have another phopne which for me means 3 mobiles in my bag,1 work one,2nd my normal mobile and the 3rd one to get the voicemail messages on.
Really dont understand this if I have it right as to how it helps me.
I want to stop nuisance calls and not just have to send them to another phone.
Sorry if mis understanding x |

May have been said, but I've not read all the thread....
If your phone doesn't do that I imagine there will be an App you can download to block certain calls. |

Did manage to download an app so now have a few numbers blocked from some people I don't want to hear from again.
Did manage yesterday with help from forumies to block all numbers withheld but after speaking with the mobile company it seems that I have now been asked to unlock them as it will be passed to the police as they only need 3 calls with time and details with what has been said and have had almost 20 nuisance calls. The police it seems can find out the number calling me even tho it is withheld. yey |

Billy no mate here who do not get many calls on the landline or mobile.
No one rings me on my landline except my mum, and she knows only to ring at a certain time. I ignore all calls on my landline except for my mum.
I would wait for the caller to speak first before I respond. If they are not my mum, I stay silient, and they would hang up in no time.
For my mobile, if it is not from work or close family and friends, or anyone I do not recognise or like, then I do not answer. It goes straight into voicemail.
Simples! |

know how you feel getting stupid calls is annoying !
the police told me to send 1 text and then not to send anymore
in that text i was to tell them i wanted no contact with them and further contact wud been seen as harrasment and wud be a police matter
some people are stupid when it comes to wanting your attention
hope you get it sorted soon tho as i know how upsetting it can be

To my knowledge (I could be wrong) it's down to your actual phone. I've been wanting to block a number but according to Vodafone they can't do that unless it's a police matter & they would need a police incident number. My phone doesn't have the blocking feature, though I did have a phone a few years a go that did.
As for land lines, it depends on your provider. I want to block a London number that calls me & says nothing, but because I'm with Sky it would cost me £4 a month to block it. Complete rip off!
So I need to put up with nuisance calls from both phones! |

TPS only cover companies based in the UK, most sales call centres will emply companies overseas such as India or Africa to get around the TPS problem.
Also, dialler calls are targetted at having only a certain percent as silent calls, again i think this only applies to the UK |

if yer expecting a call answer it, if not dont; do a 1471 which gives the number of the last call, if you dont no the number then more than likely it be scammer.
If some is trying 2 reach you they will leave you a message or contact you on mobile

On My Galaxy S you do as follows:
Applications/Call Settings/All Calls/auto Reject.
Tick the box 'Enable Auto Reject'
then open the 'Auto Reject List'
and tick 'Unknown'
All unknown calls will be blocked.
I'm using Android 2.2.3.
Hope this helps |

On the Galaxy S, I'm sure you get the option of leaving a message to the caller which informs them something along the lines of, 'I'm sorry, this number does not accept anoymous calls' but no, it doesn't divert to voicemail if you use the reject facility that I have described above. |

I found out how to do it but at the moment haven't blocked the withheld numbers to get the evidence needed for the police to investigate. See what happens in the next few weeks |
