Pissed off!

So this thread will probably get deleted or closed or whatever as it seems even legitimate complaints about this site are just quashed rather than handled, but I'm so pissed off with a few things right now and I need to air them.

Firstly let me make this clear; I KNOW that admin are only human, very busy, unpaid etc etc. I get it. But ultimately there are rules which need to be followed and they should be enforcing them. So let me mention a few things that have really surprised and annoyed me in equal measure in the last couple of days, then no doubt I'll have a few days on the naughty step.

1: three days ago a man messaged me offering me £60 to meet him. I didn't delete the message, reported it to admin, and his profile is still active.

2. a friend of mine is currently being named and abused via status update by another profile on here which has been reported no less than three times today. The profile is still active.

3. I received an aggressive message (not abusive) today from an unverified non site supporting profile. I responded in a non aggressive way, rather sarcastically (as is my natural style) from my well verified site supporting account and guess what happened... I received a temporary ban from sending messages.

So my question is quite simply this: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

I totally get you!! I don't want a forum ban so I'm going to be careful what I say BUT your not alone with these types of SHIT experiences!!! And this is why there's a lack of genuine single females on this site............. chin up hun, just block the w@nkers

I really hope they don't close it, I've been very careful too, I think there are legitimate concerns which need to be addressed and it's obviously not just me

Similar things have happened to me, admittedly, one guy got banned but he did threaten to hunt me down and kill me then spit on my grave.

That's just ridiculous. I get that they can't get round to everything straight away but time is being spent blocking people for nothing, yet the really creepy shit and blatant rule breaking is going unchecked

As a guy I really don't see this dark side to the site. I just don't understand what people think behaving like that is going to achieve. I doubt the thread will get closed because you're not naming any particular person and your complaint is a genuine one. Good luck x

Couldn’t agree more O/P me and my girlfriend have both had a few forum bans. End of day single guys can do what they like on fab yet nothing will ever get done. Like you have experienced getting abused by them is classed as ok which it shouldn’t be. Be interesting if a couple or a single women sent abusive messages how long they would get away from it?. End of day your not allowed a opinion if your a couple on here. Rant over lol

Block the users ISP identification number from accessing the site so they can't reapear with a new user name..

I hope the thread doesn't get closed. We need to be able to talk about what goes on here freely, without being shit down or even punished.

But we also need a human response from admin to explain to us why these things happen, why our enjoyment of the site is allowed to be effected like this so often.

No it's not. Because I still had to read whatever shit they said to me. I still was abused or threatened or god knows what. (Speaking broadly now, rather than just the examples above) why do I have to deal with that but they aren't dealt with? Why is that ok?

We will join you on the naughty step as we absolutely agree with you. We get no help or support even as site supporters and to be honest are using the site less and less. There's other sites (oh no! We can't mention names!) that are far better with proper support.

Read this thread with a great degree if interest.

But then I'm a single guy and clearly one of the great unwashed in some people's opinions.

Having recently tried to question admin via multiple messages to which I received not a single response I feel wholly unable to comment usefully other than to say the problem cuts across the entire membership here far more frequently than appears at first site.

As I do not wish to go on another holiday for reasons which remain unknown to me I will now wander back in the man cave in the hope that someone somewhere actually addresses the concerns of all member here irrespective of gender or other identifiers...

Same on Fabguys. There's someone who regularly names 'timewasters' on his status updates. He even updates the updates to keep them at the top of the home page yet nothing's done about it.

And when I've reported timewasters or asked how many times a picture can be 'new' I find myself blocked from looking at their profile!!

I won't bother reporting anything in future.

We’ve had issues of being banned for raising issues, twice in the last couple of months.

It’s crazy to push people toward the report feature if nothing is done about the report afterwards.

I fear that's what is going to happen.

Due to member numbers increasing, people will stop reporting abuse & other issues.

I've had a few issues, I received a ban for attempting to support a fellow female member over the abusive female member and we both received a ban yet the abusive member is still active.

I now choose my battles

I was named in an aggressive status by a guy

Several people including myself reported it, it never got took down. Reported the same guy over and over again for abusive messages from various new profiles nothing done

Then earlier today a local guy is using full facial pics of his ex girlfriend on a fake couples profile

How do I know it's his ex because she is a close friend of mine who split with him weeks ago. I've reported but her pics are on there

I replied to a man asking for a role play between him and me being his sue mum.i told him, I don't act and I think it's sick because it in**** that word meaning impropriety between family members, I used to teach and hear awful stories from kids so that sickens me. I was blocked from sending messages for that

I'm getting more and more abuse when men don't get their own way, or what I'm looking for doesn't include them. Been here over eight years and I'm at the point where I've had enough now. My profile says don't send cock pics or ask about my weekend, I'm self employed,rarely get one and sane answers hundreds of time it bores me silly. I get some right crap over that. If they took time to read first they'd know.

From my experience the lack of proper moderation due to heavy traffic on the site has created hostility. Now I know there are so many genuinely lovely people on here but with all the aggression being directed at single ladies and it not being nipped in the bud so to speak it's somewhat created a culture where some people who have been on the site a while have gotten to the stage where there's no benefit of the doubt anymore. Because of no shows, timewasters and generally hateful people it just snowballs causing more and more of the good people to become increasingly aggitated. And in a lot of ways I totally agree with you, as a single male this lack of enforcement has lead to it being increasingly difficult to be seen let alone respected. If I send a mail there's probably 100 new profiles of previously banned people sending a message blocking up someone's mail too. I know it's possible to device ban, I'm going to go ahead and suggest that for repeat offenders. I come up with a good idea or two when I rant lol. Anyhow, I'm sure things will get sorted in time.

I don't get the correlation of being a moderator to not taking egotistical shit from anyone. Moderators should be impartial and moderate using the rules set by admin.

In total agreement with you ...yes they are human and have a life but admin is there to oversee the site.

We messaged them at weekend as some guy called us nutters and became abusive as on his 3rd message he asked us to pop our address over so he could call in and yes he is still on here probably abusing others

there is a guy on another thread moaning about how inconvenienced he is as he has been blocked from sending messages as he was sending links to other sites, seems admin are on the ball protecting their site but sadly not so interested in looking after members I've supported this site for close on ten years they always say admin are volunteers etc but no getting away from the fact that this site makes money, when the new site owners took over I thought things were looking up but that seemed to be short lived

Most of the abuse we’ve witnessed has happened when someone’s ego gets bruised, they are rebuffed, someone has said no multiple times and then they get rude and abusive.

Yes, moderators should be impartial, but it’s people’s egos that drive them to be dicks on here. If someone reported abuse and we looked in to it and saw it was based on a bruised ego we’d boot then the fuck off of Fab, as a sore ego is no reason to offend and scare people.

It can take Admin up to 48 hours to deal with reports so please be patient, i will paste onto the next post what happens with those reports, please note sometimes people get warnings before being thrown off.

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******
