Many reasons singles are on here. I was in a relationship, we swung, sadly the relationship ended, dosen't mean i want to give up on this part of my life. Its fun, met some really cool people- don't see why just because i'm not longer a part of a couple i should be discrimanted against. |

There would be people who would try to circumnavigate that rule with a fake couples profile.
There is an audience for singles, but as I said on another thread the audience does not match the supply.
But in the end that is not a problem for people who want to meet singles, or for couples who want to meet couples only. The excessive supply of single men is only an issue for those single men.
There is little that can be done about it though as the numbers are self regulated. So single men would benefit from less single men being on here but only single men can change that balance. |

Whilst I can understand what you are saying, swinging has evolved to include singles. Tho singles meeting singles isnt (my point of view) swinging, singles meeting couples, group fun etc is. If you don't like how the site is just meet how you like or leave. No one is forcing you to stay. |

The problem with singles' sex sites is the people on them may assume I'm looking for a quick hook up fuck, and I'm logged on because I'm horny and need a fuck. On here, some people will have an idea that I want something more than just a bang and away with you experience and regularly, with the same men, if possible.

The way I look at it is, Fab allows singles to join so they don't see it as a problem. The term 'Swinger/swinging' and it's definitions are fluid, and match the mood of the people indulging. I believe that singles bring lots to the party and wouldn't want to see them cast out.
If the 'genuine swingers' (whatever that's meant to mean)that don't like singles being on the site are that bothered by them. I'm sure amongst them, there be a web design genius that can start their own little exclusive 'genuineswingers.com'

Its the single men who don't like the fact that there are alot of single men looking for the same as them.
People looking for couple only meet have a filter for that already as part of this site.

We like single guys, and as a couple we would not be welcome on a singles site, therefore rely on swingers sites providing men who enjoy playing with couples and understand that swinging dynamic. I don't really understand why single men come here to look for single women for 1-to-1 hookups though when there are so many more women to choose from on single sites. And I don't like it when single guys pursue couples when they have no interest in couples.

What peeves me more is when you try to actually date on dating sites, you still find the vast majority are just looking for a no strings shag. If anything, I'd like to get the ones like that off POF and onto here. That way, the dating sites would have a higher percentage of people who actually want to date.
Single male and single female are profile options on here, so clearly the site is designed to accommodate them. It's like the gay guys you occasionally get moaning on their FabGuys status or the 'Cottaging' forums about "This is supposed to be a site for guys. You TV's should go elsewhere." I point out that TV/TS is a profile option, and wouldn't be if TV's and TS's weren't welcome.
Sites like this are about helping people looking for casual sex to find each other and make arrangements. I don't see the point in filtering anyone out of the pool unless that isn't what they're looking for. |

The practicality of allowing singles on the site is to enable to couples to fulfil their fantasies etc.
Granted, to many this is simply a sex site. But to a lot of people it is somewhere to fulfil desires which couldn't be accomplished in real life.
It opens up opportunities for singles and couples to truly explore a libertine lifestyle, whether it be defined as swinging or shagging. |

Hi All,
I'm a single guy, but I'm on here because the ethos of swinging is what attracted me. I could go to a bar and try and pick someone up if it was just about sex. But swinging is about being accepted in the community and making intimate friends and not being afraid to release your inhibitions. Surely it's about the freedom to express yourself.
I'm probably not the best example as I am struggling to meet people because of the single male hype and excessive numbers but even so I still hold to my view. |

I think the ratio will be about the same on any site in terms of men v women seeking NSA or casual sex. For example on a site like POF or OK Cupid this is an option. There are very few women set up for NSA (I have met a copule) I suspect (and what I been told by women on these sites) is there are 100s of men all after NSA causal sex. So it's not a FAB thing it's just the way of the world. For whatever societal reasons far more men than women are looking for causal sexual experiances. |

The other mainstream swingers site, so I've been told, is much more of a 'real' swingers site. More couples orientated, and the singles that do join I've been told are more into the swinging lifestyle, as opposed to looking for one-to-one hookups. It is more expensive though, and in the UK doesn't seem to be very popular. I think it is true, Fab isn't really a swingers site any more (don't know if it used to be). Its more of site to find casual sex, which may of may not be swinging related. It's name is misleading, which confused us when we first joined and discovered that it was full of single guys basically looking for a free prostetute. Though I suspect the free dating sites have the same problem with chancers lookers looking for sex.

If I have sex with someone in a club, we have mutually identified a connection that makes us want to have sex with each other at that moment in time. It might only be the smallest connection, but there is a desire nonetheless for that fun to be had. If a guy messages us out of the blue asking to meet for sex, it seems to me that he doesn't need to check first that there is a mutual desire to have sex. He has simply looked at our profile and thought 'she'll do'. That guy may as well hire an escort. That type of guy, I suspect is scouring Fab looking for anyone to shag. But I accept that this probably happens on dating sites too. |

Likewise, there are any number of Fab members who I've approached purely as a potential playmate - usually in the sense of cybersex or phonesex - so I'm not bad-mouthing people who are 'only' looking for sex.
I was simply elaborating on your point about the 'free prostitute' crowd...namely that these are the people who think that being a Member of Fab means that you are OBLIGED to say 'yes' to them.
Not so long ago, for instance, I commented on a thread on which a guy had claimed:

Exactly.
There's nothing wrong with approaching someone purely with the aim of having sex with them. HOWEVER, the fact that you are only viewing them as a potential sex partner does not remove the obligation to treat them with respect.
As you say, if you don't care whether the person you're approaching actually wants to be having sex with you, you might as well be hiring a hooker. |
