We are curious to know if any other members have or had Breast cancer?
My wife has now recovered but the physical scars remain, so would this put you off meetings?

I have breast cancer. I have had a mastectomy with no reconstruction and I'm currently having chemotherapy. Ive been upfront with people I've chatted to and so far it hasn't put anyone off. I wouldn't say I'm 100% confident with my scars and one boob, but I'm getting there. |

Firstly sending all my love & strength, it's a rollercoaster ride!
I'm 4yrs clear, double mastectomy and after 20 operations now have reconstructed...it takes time to recover, personally I'm still on that path.. but life is good. Xx |

4yrs clear is brilliant, but wow you've been through a lot with 20 operations, I'm in no rush for reconstruction, the thought of even one operation puts me off!

Oh wow ladies I read this and it makes me realise even more why Im doing what I am and I wish you all the best in youre recovery journeys.
Im currently training for a charity event Women V Cancer
London to Paris in 3 days 240 miles
Im aiming to raise a minimum of £1600 in sponsorship fund's to support the work of three charities working to fight breast, ovarian and cervical cancers: Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and in memory of my grandmother.

I'm doing ( hopefully! ) Cancer Research muddy challenge 1st October. My aunt is a survivor of breast cancer but I lost my mum to lung cancer ( I know this is not the subject here..) so will be doing it for them.
Just wanted to say that and sent a warm felt virtual hug xx |

Don't worry about your scars - consider them your battle scars and wear them with pride. Most people have some sort of scar/dodgy tattoo/ wobbly bit they're self-conscious about, you won't be alone.
I'm 14 years post cancer, 11 years post double mastectomy/recon and for the most part it doesn't bother me. Initially I was a bit self-conscious and sometimes when we meet people for the first I wear a corset or bra but they soon come off! My nipple tats have faded a bit so I'll get them re-done after the 'summer' but otherwise it's all good!

I last week got diagnosed with lymphoma. ..they told me its static and going nothing so carry on as normal. ..I just had too had reg checks on bloods..tho my fb sister and mother are all survivors of breast cancer. . |

Frisky had breat cancer about 8 years ago.
She had a lumpectomy on her right breast and the lymph nodes removed, then chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
She now has a lazy S scar in her right armpit and an anchor scar on her right breast.
For a while we put on our profile about her scars but don't bother anymore. We pretty much only meet at clubs, very few people mention the scars and those that do are alway positive.
They are her battle scars and tell a story...
To those going through treatment, we know it's not alway easy but keep smiling...
For the rest of you men and women, do those important checks...

I had a lumpectomy right breast last october and 5 lymph nodes the scar on my boob is pretty neat but the one under my arm is pretty big i finished chemo in june and radiotherapy in july still recovering but getting there still having herceptin injections every 3 weeks only got 4 left  wish my bloody hair would grow quicker though lol Its been a hell of a year the chemo was tough but got through it without to many complications those going through similar treatment stay strong and good luck x x x and YES people make sure you do your checks i was very lucky i discovered my lump while applying moisturiser i have to admit i never did any checks previously x x x x

I've never had any kind of cancer, but scars would never put us off meeting! I'm still a little insecure about the scars from my boob job so we would never judge anyone else for theirs.
You should be so amazed that you went through such a horrific thing. Scars are wonderful. Sending my love OP.

Helen had breast cancer 4 years ago and had a mastectomy on one breast with no reconstruction. Unfortunatley since this unlike others we have had no joy in meeting anyone. We find once people no our story they either don’t get back to us or block us. |

I've personally not had cancer but family members have some survived some didn't. So for all those ladies going and gone through this journey I salute you and your bravery. |

My husband had his voice box removed in June due to throat cancer, he now speaks via a stoma, his confidence is shattered when it comes to meeting anyone new or old at the moment. It’s heartbreaking to see him struggle. |

My ex-wife had BC and a lumpectomy - Some scarring etc but I didnt even notice it and after a while neither did she!
We should all be open about our insecurities.. this is all about fun with other like minded human beings right?
