I had the consultant last week... and was told I more than likely have an auto immune problem.. possibly rheumatoid arthritis...
Going for tests soon... they have told me if it is then i will be put on meds that will wipe out my immune system...the reality of that and how it will affect our lives has hit me hard...
Is there anyone els that has this or similar.. in my head I feel we need to give up this life as I can't see how I can risk being in big groups and not pick up a bug from someone... we love clubs... for us it's not always about the sex we love the atmosphere too.
Not sure what to do |

You will be counselled before you go on such a drug. Ask for a phone number you can ring for future advice, and then you can anonymously ask if this lifestyle (using full protection), would put you at any more risk than sitting on a train in winter, people coughing and sneezing etc. |

I didn't realise they would offer me that... think it would help lots.. like I said tbh even if we did go to a club I wouldn't be playing... it would me more a catch up with friends and have a dance... and that's the bit I would miss most of all...
Thank you |

"You are just basically in a public area, no more at risk than every day public spaces."
Think I need to stop listening to people and just go by medical advice.... everyone's acting like my social life in genral will be over...and the that makes me sad as I'm a social butterfly |

Listen to the advice. Weigh up the options. The drug should you choose to take it, will overall enhance your quality of life. Yes, you will be at a higher risk of picking up bugs, but not enough to change your life negatively. |

Listen to the people who can give you the correct information. Ask them questions. Then decide what you do. Good luck x
I have health issues which mean i very easily pick up other peoples germs (probably not to the extent you would though) and i am rarely without a bacterial/viral infection (chest, ear, throat, uti etc) which often require several lots of antibiotics and i worry about what germs are around in clubs but i still go, i just dont go when im at my most vunerable. You learn to adapt. X |

I have a different autoimmune condition which I manage to completely control through diet. It probably won't be something that's automatically mentioned so is definitely worth looking into yourself. It may not totally get rid of it but can give great benefits.
Have a look at info by William Davis and Terry Wahls as well as the Autoimmune Protocol |

You don't necessarily have to go full on with it, I found that cutting potatoes and wheat made the initial difference, and then anything else processed made the final progress.
Something to look into anyway |

Absolutely. I always look into alternative treatments as a first option. |

I think best thing is to speak to the Consultant who will give you all the information you need. Advice on here is fine but we are all different and the Consultant is best one to speak to.
Good luck OP. |

You only have one life, live it as you wish.
I have a condition known as Myleodysplasia, I'm also susceptible to picking up all sorts, and I tire very easily, but I don't let it interfere with my life as much as I can. And that includes being on here. |

My son who is 23 takes drugs for chrons disease that wipe out his immune system. He lives a fully active social life and didn't give anything up. He is prone to colds so avoids people who have them. |

If you are finding it all a bit overwhelming perhaps find a support group you could join. The best advice often comes from those who live it. Take care x |
