I am wanting to get my first corset but I don't want to spend a fortune and I've been looking on Amazon but I'm really confused about the sizing and I have no idea what to get. For example I've found some that would fit my bust and hips but is a couple of inches smaller on the waist but then the reviews might say things like smaller fit...so then what do I do? Please can someone help me here? |

Corset Story.
If you you the steel bone corsets, they have a guide on the sizing. You don't buy the size to match your measurements as the corsets adjust and you can trim inches off your waist. |

The most important thing when getting a corset is to make sure it's steel boned. Plastic can snap and injure you.
If you're unsure of sizes, email your measurements to sites like corset deal, corset story, UK corsets etc and ask them what size would fit you. |

Go to M & S for a proper measure up, even tell the lady what you are looking for and don't go by S M or L sizes but the measurements you are when looking online

I buy from either amazon or ebay
some of those on corsets uk are on ebay and are a lot cheaper
I am a 12/14 usually, which is a medium, but when buying a corset you need to go up at least 2-3 sizes so I usually get an XL or an XXL |

Be very careful with the cheap corsets on eBay and Amazon - they are ALWAYS far smaller than you anticipate as they have already worked in the reduced sizing to pull you in generally.
Leatherotics are very good (not just leather corsets) they advise well and are made brilliantly. I've had some of mine from there for years now |

I read somewhere that we need to choose a corset 2-4inches smaller (at waist) than our actual waist and then adjust the strongs/ribbons accordingly to fit. |

Yes, if you are after a waist training corset to help you get that over exaggerated hour glass figure. For just a normal figure (what's normal for us gurls, lol) then just a fashion corset should do. This will help the figure and lift boobs (I wish) without reducing your waist. Don't forget, over use of a proper steel boned corset can lead to serious internal problems. |

Try Extravagance in the lanes in Meadowhall, you can try on and they are often only £10 |

BW careful with Amazon. A lot of sellers say steel boned and when they arrive they are plastic.
As others have said, Corsets UK are your best bet and they have good advice on sizing. |

Phaze clothing are brilliant. Steel boned corsets. They do a lot of the steampunk corsets too. Get next size down from what you would usually get. The more you wear your corset it will mould to your shape and after a while you'll be able to pull it tighter xx |
