i want to try being Dom but don't know wear to start my best mates knows all about me being sub and is shocked I am sub as they say I have a very powerful personality but need advice and how to go about being a Dom |

Being dom or sub isn't necessarily anything to do with personality. I have a dominant personality and I'm my Master's slave, very happily so. With women though I am more dominant and have a recently discovered sadistic side that I've begun to explore. |

As other fabsters stated maybe you are SWITCH
Maybe your neither x does it matter ? Perhaps you are sub to some yet have a desire to Dom others x
Perhaps attending a munch where you can meet and discuss with others my help you x

When I first discovered my TV side I was sub x but as time goes on I now predominantly enjoy the Dom aspect of my personality and preferences x

Okay, I'm naturally sub. I have dommed a few times. Let me just say I'm a very strong person too, and people are shocked at my naturally submissive side. I think it relates to just being a different person in the bedroom (dungeon, where ever  )
For me it didn't come naturally. I have to really overthink it. I considered what I liked etc, and discussed with the sub what they were looking for

I am assuming the OP is actually asking about Topping and learning to Top rather than learning to be a Dominant.
There's a whole raft of theories as to whether you can learn to be Dominant or learn to be Submissive but that's a whole separate discussion which I'll avoid here.
But to learn to Top, as in you are the person at the handle end of the hitty thing rather than the pointy end is a matter of studying, asking questions, watching others, find mentors or confidants, research and then practice with willing recipients, the last bit is the hardest for many reasons.
I wouldn't hold much stock in knowing what you'd like for now, the fun thing about being the top is you get to decide what you'd like to do providing it's consensual. You choose what to try and then decide if you liked it, and I suggest you be open minded about things because you may be pleasantly surprised to find pleasure in things that were initially on your hard limit list.
I would start with small steps, don't rush things, be aware and use safe practices as even the most mundane of scenes could have risks, if in doubt ask someone experienced in that aspect of play, always check with your bottom, remember this is consensual, build a network of friends who can help you, try some play parties, visit munches and learn from others, establish trust with the Bottom and know what they want, and if in doubt stop.
