Accessing Cam with a MacBook

Can anyone please help,I have a Macbook, and have not been able to use my cam for some time.... Is this a system issue or my computer (Me).

Have you got flash set up as a plug in for the fab chat room?

I know in the past mine seems to turn itself to off when I have an update.
