Don't like to make a thread to disheartening , I feel so down at the minute , I'm living with the horrendous condition of fibromyalgia and my weight has rocketed with the meds I'm taking , I can't exercise like I used too , does anyone else who suffers have the same feelings , for instance I have gone from a size 16 too a size 20 , I'm not saying you can't look good as a bigger sized person , it's just taking me a while to find my comfort zone so to speak . Sorry for the doom and gloom Mrs T

I know someone who has fibromyalgia and if anything his weight went down or just about stayed the same, mind you he had lots of other symptoms too like asthma... he was working fine and then gradually became more and more tired and just couldn't manage the job he was in so had to leave... i don't think he is as bad now but the work he was doing before (outdoor and physical) would be beyond him now. His weight didn't increase though and he manages his condition as best he can.

There are organisations to support people with fibromyalgia that may also be able to offer advice. Visit UK Fibromyalgia's support group section for a list of support groups across the country. You may also find it helpful to talk to other people with fibromyalgia on online . I hope you find others who can help you in some way.

. Hi op, I am sending huge hugs, I really feel for you, never worry about asking for support, you generally find a good bunch on here I have a forum friend who has your condition, I'll message her and ask to pop in the thread, she has such a positive outlook on it, and on her bad days she accepts it for what it is and let's her body rest, she's confident now but I'm not sure she always has been, she's learnt to live with the new her, anyhow she is better equipped at telling you her story and I think she will be good to get to know, good luck op, Mrs blue eyes

I (Alan) have Fibro (and asthma and many other things). I have had to give up work.

You wake up in the morning feeling like someone has literally just stopped beating you up. Then it gets worse throughout the day. Exhaustion is the norm. For those that are not aware of the condition, imagine staying awake for 72hrs then try to carry on with your life.

You do not get rid of it. you have 'ups and downs' but its for life.

It is pos to still have fun, but you just have to take advantage of any times you feel 'not so bad'.

I am on daily morphine for pain. We still meet and have some fun. Just not a 'vigorous now' lol

Weight wise it is hard. The trouble is that it affects everyone differently. I know people with this condition that still manage to work. Others cannot.

I take each day as it comes. I was a workaholic. Not being able to work was a hard blow.

Don't give up and just take each day as it comes. xx

I have a couple of Fab friends who have fibro....and sadly the condition is not well understood.

Try not to equate your body size with your self worth. And remember that there are plenty of men who prefer the fuller figure.

I've no personal experience, but my Mom was diagnosed a few years ago. She has said that the biggest thing has been learning not to be so hard on herself and also learning to do what her body needs, rather than battling against it as she said she always ends up feeling so much worse, if she tries to push on through (which sometimes she has no choice over as she is carer to her Mom).

Be kind to yourself x

Sooner you take life and people at face value the better. You cannot control the uncontrollable I understand it feels impossible but enjoy yourself and do what you enjoy doing. Even if it's alone. Live life with no regrets you shouldn't need anyone else to be personally happy. Although it enhances it with good people around you. Hope this helps

Self esteem and confidence is something I'm totally lacking in too, it has stopped me playing, I just can't seem to get over the fact I feel so rubbish about my body and physical limitations due to cancer when young, so I really know how you feel, I feel better when at a club in the glory holes, the anonymous play gives me a real boost. Have you tried??? I would love to be a confident person, we all know confidence is attractive. I really feel your pain and frustration and sending big hugs of support.

Hiya, I also have fibromyalgia and am a size 20. It's very hard to feel attractive when not only are you overweight but you're also in pain a lot of the time so move like a pensioner! I managed a bike ride the other day and I was so chuffed with myself but I've been paying for it ever since and that was a week ago! Strangely enough my leg muscles haven't been hurting but it's just the overal fatigue that has ramped up a level. It surprised me actually that my legs didn't hurt because even moving coat hangers across on a rail or lifting my arms to do my hair hurts. There's no predicting what will hurt and when with this condition! All you can do is try to make the best of what you have got and what you can do. Make sure your nails are nice and maybe treat yourself to a nice perfume etc. Little things can really contribute to feeling more positive. xxx
