Dear all,
We're new to the scene and obviously have our concerns about STIs and the likes. Otherwise it's been great!
We've so far we've only had one FF play and used condoms over sex toys but no dental dam.
So my questions are how have people found dental dams? Would women still be interested in us? What practical tips to prevent transmission are there apart from condoms? And has anybody had the HPV vaccine?
Best wishes

Sadly the only true form of safe sex is abstaining or celibacy.
Sounds like you're already doing all that you reasonably can.
Whether it will put people off or not I couldn't say beyond our own experiences. Dams aren't nice, it's like playing with a crisp packet covering your bits.
But it's your body, your rules. |

I LOVE to chat with the nurse from the clinic when I go for my regular checks. That way I kill THREE birds with one stone. Sexual health check, free condoms AND professional health advice!
(Maybe there is a fourth stone but I try not to chat people up while they are working.) |

There's a discussion with lot's of info on the HPV vaccine here: https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/support/628165#last
But it's going to be rare to find people of swinging age who have had it and the benefits of having it later in life are debatable.
We've discussed HPV a lot and basically what it boils down to is about an extra 1% chance of getting cervical cancer, which by the way is way less prevalent than prostate cancer in men. So if that risk is uncomfortable for you then swinging isn't really a good option. |

Thanks all. I've read the linked thread and have been reassured that an sti isn't inevitable with swinging.
I understand what you mean about the risk from prostate cancer being higher but generally that's because it benign, found in much older populations and they die in old age from something unrelated. It's not the same for cervical cancer.
I'll probably go for the HPV and hep B vaccine though, especially with the added strains now in the vaccine. But that's my choice and I get not everyone wants it.
Thanks for the advice and tips and glad to know I'm not missing anything extra that could keep us both safe. |
