I'm going through it at the mo and our crappy doctors service is frustrating me.
Every time I have sex with my husband I get really bad thrush. One bonk and that's it until I've had doctor prescribed help. Argh!!!
Is this normal for a lady with erratic hormone levels?  |

I never had any trouble with thrush when I was going through the menopause..
in fact you probably don't want to hear this but I sailed through it with the minimal of bother..
and now I am through the other side my sex drive is through the roof...  |

He hasn't got thrush though. He's also just had an all clear from the clinic. The last time he played with someone other than me was well before Christmas so the test covers three months without any play outside of us. |

You have to treat both you and him, or it'll just keep coming back. It's most likely nothing to do with the menopause - I had the same problem with a partner in my early 20s. |

Thrush is not routinely teased for and he could be totally asymptomatic. If it's happening every time you have sex, he needs treating and that can be done with OTC meds.
If you are susceptible to it, it may be worth making an appointment with your GP as repeated thrush is a possible indicator for diabetes.

I'll have a chat with hubby later about getting treated even though he has no symptoms.
I just wish it wasn't so bloody hard to see or even speak to the doctor.
They do telephone appointments here and the signal around us is rubbish. I'm in with clients when they call or I simply don't get a call because of lack of signal. |

Never had any problems but since change have been wet all the time. Dr said that's a plus for me cos lots of women dry up and find sex painful. Also sex drive has been great.  |

Well there's a turn up for the books.
Hubby just came home from work, having stopped at tesco pharmacy for advice.
He has canistan cream to treat himself as the pharmacist said he is probably infected even without symptoms.

Both of you should try taking Fluconazole. Available over the counter. It is probably worth taking weekly for a month. Thrush spreads throughout your system including your bowel. |

I didn't have any trouble with thrush but I did have some other problems relating to the change - I found the website www.menopausematters.co.uk very useful
My doctor was useless!
One ray of hope - the change seems to bring lots of us a higher sex drive!!!! |

I would definitely try the fluconazole tablet for both of you. It's cheaper to buy it from Amazon because at my chemist it's £6.99 for one tablet . The cream is okay but only deals with the outside symptoms not what's going on inside!
Also avoid soaps, soaking in the bath and wear cotton pants, these should also help. Good luck op, hope it clears up quickly. |

Your partner may not show symptoms but he still definitely needs treatment. |

I've had thrush almost non stop while trying to get my hormone balance right after my hysterectomy. The usual tablets didn't seem to be having much effect. I've recently started estrogen vaginal tablets as well as my HRT patch and it seems to be helping. |
