I (Mrs C) have been told that I need my back operated on to release trapped nerves. They are shaving off some of my discs to make more space for the nerves to travel through.

Anyone else had something similar, and how long before you were 'back in the game'?

I have had something similar. I had a coflex implant place in my spine and some tissue and bone removed. I cant remember properly but Mr N and I were back making love after about 4 weeks I would say but I wouldn't recommend anything but gentle activity until you feel your back muscles are strong enough.

Good luck with it.

I'm having a laminotomy. I'm waiting on a second MRI to check how bad it's got to confirm this and they aren't going to do more. E.g fusing or microdisectomy.

piece of string answer unfortunately ... if all goes to plan the periods of weeks suggested are realistic if it goes tits up months / years / never/ life changing effects ...

you need to discuss this with your surgeon ( no needto mention swing if you don;t want to , just the vigour of your shagging )

Hi I had a microdiscetomy 2 yrs ago for L5 S1 bulged disc compressing the siactic nerve . I was back in work within 4-6 weeks and with Physio therapy back training in the gym after about 12 weeks. So it all depends on how active you want to be and pain levels really . 3-4 months would be realistic I think .

I'm going to be having one of these operations so I'll keep my eye on this thread. My Neurosurgeon said its roughly about 6 weeks recovery I think.

I'll let you know what happens. I'm just looking forward to going private as NHS are not taking referrals. But are funding it! Nothing like a bit of luxury whilst flat on your back!

I've sent u a PM. I'm a physiotherapist and I've had back surgery. Give yourself 4-6 wks don't rush just listen to your body. Micro discectomy isn't the big deal it once was but you still have to look after yourself.

The best thing to do is ask the professional that is doing your op. That's exactly what I did You're a grown up with a sex life, you don't have to fess up to swinging.

Good luck with your op OP x

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I had the injection into L5-S1, from the MRI it was found the disc was bulging onto sciatica nerve, I'm sure I don't have to explain that pain haha, today I'm 80% better, not perfect but it's a start, I have to see how this goes for the next two weeks, then make a decision to operate,

Just thought I'd let you guys know, there is hope for all of us, thankfully my wife is here to nurse me, even though she won't wear the uniform or bring me soup in bed haha

Hi guys, it's been a while, updates, the injection only lasted 3 days, but that's just me, for others it's been a cure, sadly it didn't work for me, one week ago I went through the discetomy, I'm still recovering this week, I still have a niggle down my leg, but I'm 99% out of pain, getting better every day, hopefully in my 8 weeks off work, I'll be back to normal, thinking of you all, and wish you guys a speedy recovery xxx

Thinking of you. I've had numerous epidurals and 3 discectomies on L4/L5 L5/S1. I also had cauda equina which is so frightening.

I need my spine fusing, but need to losend weight.

I have neuropathy in my right leg, my sciatic nerve is inflamed and damaged. I'm very imobile now, the weight is piling on.

Hope you recover well x
