Having been induced this morning im now in a fair bit of pain having regular contractions, had paracetamols an they didnt do anything for the pain so midwife said i could try Codeine. Never tried it before, she said it could make me a little sleepy an dizzy but nothing major an should help with the pain.
So far the pains increasing (which is a good thing but it blooming hurts) an i now feel so groggy, tired an heavy headed that i dont want to potter about an use the ball or anything.
How long do the effects take too wear off? I know each person is different an things tho!

Drink plenty of water to dilute the codeine in your system. I'm actually quite shocked your midwife suggested taking codeine for labour pains tbh. It makes you feel heavy tired and nauseous, not something you want to feel when you're in labour.
Gas and air, epidural if need be...good luck |

Try and get some sleep.... and good luck.. i only had gas and air for all mine and best thing is no lingering effects...
Oh and stay upright for labour if possible.... i had the bed up.. hung over the top and used gravity.
Ohhhh and listen to your midwife... |

Try a tens machine if they have one available. I got through my labour with tens and gas and air as well as meditation and keeping focussed as didn't want to take drugs that would pass to my baby. My labour started at 1pm Sunday and I finally gave birth to him Monday at 10.15pm so it wasn't a easy time but keeping focussed was better than the drugs |

Deep breathing. I would walk about if it were possible, it helps move labour on. Get it over with as quickly as possible. I had a 9lb 4oz baby with no pain relief and got to the hospital 1 hour before the baby was born. You can do it |

Codeine is used a lot in early labour, and is safe to use.
The midwives are experts, and will help you through this. Best wishes xx |
